Flammable statement OTD alert: This is why some HDCPs skeeve me out and why I'm glad our daycare has overly annoying cleanliness practices.
My kids got HFM last year at their HDCP- her kids got it from the preschool that they go to 3 mornings a week. It sucks b/c you are contagious before you start showing symptoms (or at least that is what our ped said). There were several outbreaks at around that time at several of the preschools and elementary schools in the area.

My kid caught HFM. I assume it was from frenching a shopping cart since none of the other kids at daycare (HDCP) got it. My daycare lady said it was the first time she'd had a kid with HFM in 30 years.
I don't understand, as a DCP, why she is so nonchalant about it.
Because she's the shitty type of DCP who gives all home DCPs a bad name.
I'm going to guess that her "home day care" is code for getting paid to babysit some other kids because she's home with her kid anyway, needs the money, and doesn't have the skills to do anything else.

Daaaaang. Like a school of piranhas. Poor chick. She may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but she is guilty of nothing I'd call evil, illegal, negligent or otherwise deserving of all this hate. Bullies! May none of you receive any oral action tonight!
Is this HFM fatal? It sounds about as serious as chicken pox.

fyi - to be licensed as the director/owner/lead teacher in Maine you have to be 21 when caring for 3-12 children. Staff children count to 3 kids, so if she was in Maine, she could only watch 1 paying child.

But fuck if I'd leave my child alone with 1 adult and 6+ children. I don't know what the ratios are for Missouri, either. I know in NY they are different for home providers than for centers.
