I cannot wait to go off the pill!!! Ugh. I am so flippin' eager to TTC, I wish it was August already. I keep lurking on other boards seeing people post about their ultrasounds, and I never thought I'd be so ready but dammit, gimme gimme!
The truth is I don't even like babies that much (don't flame!) but I really love kids. And I really love the thought of getting started on building our family. And the challenge of being a parent has me thrilled for some reason. I'm weird...
ANYWAYS, got to post and dash but if anyone else wants to join me in whining like a little brat please feel free!
You don't really like babies but you love kids?! I don't understand this logic.
I'm guessing she means she doesn't like the newborn/baby phase but likes them when they're a little older and can communicate (and maybe don't need diapers).
OP, I was also very impatient to get off BCP when I was ready to TTC DD. I've also never been much a kid-person - never babysat, never really knew what to do with friends' kids, etc, but having your own really is different. The newborn phase was hard, but I'm even more impatient for another now that I know how absolutely adorable they can be.
BFP1: DD born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w3d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence

Babies and kids are not the same things. It's a stage of their lives...just like pre-teen, teenager, etc and the other ladies get what I meant when I said that...
I'm just more into the thought of a little kid (even toddlers are awesome) then a babybaby. That doesn't mean I don't think the baby stage is cute and fun in its own way, but I do think I'm better with LO's once they can communicate, and are out of diapers. Exactly!
Mostly I just waaaaant one of my own, just like the rest of us here
I get the liking kids more. I personally love cuddling tiny little babies, but the starting to communicate phase is soo fun(ny). DH 's first full sentence was "no, no, no", I just love that. My goddaughter started to speak a little and asked 'is that?' constantly. She learned to smell flowers, so when she was informed that what was on her plate was cauliflower she wanted to smell instead of eat, and water it!
Anyway, I totally understand you being ready to give up BC. If I were you I'd make the wait go faster with a nice big martini!

This gives me hope. I've always been so weird around other people's kids (until recently). I'm super eager to go off BCP too. Planning to go off in October. I am 100% convinced that it is so different when it's your own child. I'm ready!
