Failing that, how about a recommendation for a good outdoor mat? Between shedding their summer coats and tracking mud on my floors, I'm about ready to get rid of the dogs! Ok, not really. But I'm mopping everyday and I'm sick of it!
Ours sit outside the door and wait for us to wipe their paws, this has taken lots of consistency (always having them sit even if its dry and sunny out) and training, but it works and is so much less stressful :-)

I feel your pain. Whenever it's rainy/wet out we make them come in the downstairs and go into the laundry room to wipe their feet. We keep some treats in there and they know it, so they usually cooperate and get a treat for being good.
My family once had a lab that they trained to wipe her feet. Not kidding. They put down a towel and before they let her in they'd tell her 'wipe your feet' while turning their finger in a circular motion. Eventually all they had to do was say 'Molly wipe your feet' and she would do circles on the towel to clean her feet.
