I truly don't think you need it unless you just want to spend the money. I was on the fence, but I'm fine not having it. The main difference for me is that my calendar online is blank (no color codes, no icons), but the calendar in the iPhone app has all that stuff for free, including my DPO count. I use both the online and the iPhone equally, so whatever the supposed features were, I don't miss them. Online it does tell you at the top in a grid what DPO you are, it's just not on the chart itself.
I never paid much attention to the gray boxes below that are the main VIP features, so I'm ok not having those.
Here's my whole chart. I just can't add my own criteria, like mucinex. Eh, I don't think I care - I know that's one of my usual things, ya know? I don't need it recorded.

I have VIP. I like it. It just makes things visually simpler; so I don't spend as much time studying that shit. I just glance at it, see color coded things and very clear DPOs, and it move on. Good through the next 61 days...I am trying to be optimistic lol
If you watch their Facebook page you can often get is for $25 a year (I've been using FF for over a year and a half and I've never seen it at the regular price they list). I actually just got it at the discounted FB price about a week ago.

I never had VIP and was fine without it. Not to be a downer but for me, after a while I didn't even want to chart. I had a few cycles where I half-assed it and VIP would have been a waste. I got to a point where I knew my cycle pretty well...the cycle I got my BFP I didn't temp at all, just did OPKs.
I've never paid for it. The mobile site seems to include most of the features I want (suggested fertile days, etc.), and that's where I access it most often. They often do free trials where the VIP stuff shows up automatically, and I don't even really notice the difference - except for the blurb across the top saying I have a free VIP preview until xx date.
