I think it looks great! I'll definitely be going to see it...
With the exception of Daisy's feelings towards Jay. Luhrmann is making it seem like Daisy felt the same way about Jay that he felt about her... and I don't think that was the case at all. I think Daisy played that she was in love with people... when in reality she was willing to love anyone that could provide her with the life she wanted. Lurhmann's Daisy seems genuine in her love of Gatsby.
Agreed PS! I'm reallllllly excited about this movie. I'd be excited to watch Baz's film about paint drying... nevermind Gatsby!
I usually try to separate the movie from the book entirely. And it looks like I'll enjoy the film.
My friend mentioned that, if you hadn't read the book, you'd have no idea what the movie was about. I figure Baz expects MOST people have read the book, or at least (due to it's classic status) know the basic premise. So I'm pleased with the trailer.

I'm excited for the movie, but I wasn't as dazzled by the trailer as I'd expected. I love Leonardo diCaprio like whoa, but I don't know if I'm seeing him as Gatsby yet. He had kind of a scowl-y angry thing going on, and that doesn't quite fit with my sense of him. The party scenes look off the hook, though, so I think it'll be a really cool interpretation in that way.
I'm really excited about this. I just listened to the book (I was trying to finish by the TIP discussion and didn't make it) but I loved the book! I hadn't read it since HS and I really didn't remember liking it. But I was pretty blown away by it and I'm really excited for the movie!
I'm really excited about this movie- more than I thought I would be. Gatsby is one of my favorite books, so I'm also pretty excited about the re-read. :-)
