I'd like you to expand on how Obama had nothing to run on? Said he'd get out of Iraq, done. Said he'd catch Osama, done. Said he'd repeal DADT, done. Said he'd work towards bringing all the troops home, done, with a plan for 2014 which, by the way, is the same timeline Romney proposed.
If you really can't see how women are/were being targeted, in an oppressive way, I'm sure you're blind.
Our bodies -- the most intimate parts of us -- are being argued against. Being scrutinized. In a way a man's body *never* is or has been. Our contraceptive rights -- even leaving out abortion -- were being attacked.
Rape was being trivialized.
I'll say that again -- rape, one of the most god awful, soul-sucking things one human being can do to another, was being trivialized, because some men decided they knew more than the women who suffered through, broke down because, and triumphed over rape.
Men don't have this scrutiny. Men don't have these wars over what they can and cannot do to their bodies. It comes from a systemic, historic attempt to dominate women. If you run our bodies you run us.
As for why this came up in this election cycle . . . ever heard of Todd Akin? Or Sandra Fluke?
Sandra Fluke... The 30 year old college student that enrolled with the intent of taking on this cause?
Yes, I've heard of her...like many.... which is why "free condoms for women" has become the main arguing point for so many liberals.
I'm sorry. I think you meant Sandra Fluke, the 30-year-old LAW student who argued that her lesbian friend who needed contraceptives for medical reasons (NOT for "slut reasons," whatever that means) should have access to them under the health insurance plan she paid for.
But if you want to know why conservative men continually piss off women of all political persuasions, just look at how you've acted in this post. You've been rude and dismissive to the posters who tried to have a conversation with you, and called one a slut. You have continually minimized issues that are important to women, and claimed that women were overreacting or were tricked by Obama. That's not going to win anyone over, tintin.
Maybe it isn't the Dems trying to "feed women ammo" (which, btw, is very insulting to women's intelligence), maybe it's the GOP allowing an out-of-touch fringe element in society to take over their party and run on social platforms that are antithetical to the majority of American women.
Maybe.... if only it wasn't a brand new attack, this election, that you women have launched. Which of your reasons for this "war on women" is new this election? Exactly... none. Yet this election it was made a huge overexaggerated issue.
So what you're saying is that all you women held this in last election... and all those before it... and then when Sandra Fluke got her 15 minutes of fame, and made the media, you suddenly all came together and said "let's make this our new cause".
If you really can't see how women are/were being targeted, in an oppressive way, I'm sure you're blind.

Holy overdramatic. Your "contraceptive rights" are not being touched. You have the exact same power to possess them as you always have. And as a young male, I thank girls for doing so.
Rape was being trivialized.
No it wasn't. One man made one comment that was twisted and spun by the left into something he never said.

Ah, I see. You find it "overexaggerated" for women to be repulsed by a GOP nominee for the Senate who claims women's bodies can shut down pregnancies for "legitimate" rape.
And clearly you didn't read any of my links if you still don't understand why this issue has particular resonance in 2012. Or why it was not about ONE man making a comment that was somehow taken out of context.
If you aren't actually interested in understanding our viewpoint, what's your endgame here?

You still haven't answered my question....
And Betty spelled out why it was such a big issue in this election, as a result of all the new anti-choice legislation in the past two years.
But again, you are pot-stirring and not interested in educated, well-informed debate. We actually are open-minded, but you need to start backing up your statements with facts and figures instead of right-wing rhetoric. Yeah, I said it. Rhetoric.

So please expand what he didn't have to run on.
Poor economy (go ahead, this is where you all still blame Bush) High unemployment, nowhere near as low as he promised. Major in crease in food stamp participants. Not one "new" job created in 4 years. The debt you already know about. The ridiculous spending... sorry... "stimulus", that failed.
Yes he got lucky in that Bush's war on bin Laden had the CIA in the right place, talking to the right Pakistani Dr.... and when they had bin Laden in their sites they called the white house and asked if they should take him out or not... what President in their right mind would say "no" ?? He passed an extremely expensive healthcare plan that most of the country doesn't want. www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/health_care_law The troops are not home and won't be by 2014.
So I ask you.... of all your claims... which ones did Obama use in his campaigns ? (Besides Osama of course. Even though he said he would not "spike the football", he did it so much he upset his friends the Muslims).

I never called anyone a slut, nor would I. How the fuck would I know anything about them that theu don't bring up ?
Only one or 2 people "tried to have a conversation" with me.... most of them threw insults and names.... doesn't affect me, but don't try and claim I insulted people that wanted to discuss this with me, for fuck's sake.
And I don't think women were "tricked" by Obama... I think women were fed bad info and they ran with it.
Obama ran on a campaign of namecalling Mitt Romney.... not a campaign of his accomplishments... and guess why....
So any group the DNC could get to repeat their bad info, was a win for them.
As far as winning anyone over, I can honestly tell you I don't give a fuck what anyone here thinks of me.. I won't be staying. I Googled something and one hit was this forum. Some made up story about sugar in water. So I made a quick account and commented.
I haven't the slightest clue what GBCN even stands for.
Obviously stands for "overly sensitive, angry liberals" in some form or another.
Maybe "funny gifs" would be in there too... who knows.
Tintin, just in case you didn't know, the election was last week... Obama already got re-elected... so even if you could sway the opinion to your side, it's really kind of a moot point, no?

Lol that the stimulus failed, when American automakers are still going strong. 4 years ago there was real potential of the American auto industry dying out.
And yeah, unemployment is still higher than we'd like, but this mess wasn't created in four years- why would it magically disappear in as long?
And you lost me on the Muslim friends bit. It doesn't matter one iota who or what anyone worships, befriends, or otherwise consorts with in this country. It is America. Get the fuck over it. I am so lucky that Irish hostility isn't as rampant as it was in the early 1900s, and I imagine if you looked to your heritage you would fine similar prejudices.

Also just for my own personal education, can anyone point me to data showing the increase in food stamp participants and what this increase was as a result of?

See, the whole idea that women were "fed bad info" insinuates that we are not smart enough or otherwise paying enough attention to our bodies to know what we want and what is best for us. Do you not comprehend the misogynistic nature of your assumption? That we little ladies have to wait for a man to dumb it down for us, and bless our little hearts we believed the wrong man? That's bullshit.

Why were you googling articles about sugar water? LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS.
