So I've had the same style haircut for a really long time. Long layers, middle or side part. The pic isn't the best because the shorter layers were pulled up, but you get the idea.
What I need: I'm not losing a lot of length, short was bad Easy to put together Ability to easily tie it back / out of my face

I'm in the same boat as you. I feel like you may need to ditch a little length and maybe bring the height up a little. Not a ton and certainly not above the shoulders, but a little. The style in that photo is looking a little heavy, KWIM? Something like this, but maybe a little longer?
The first style Mrs. J posted is mine, but with lots of choppy layers. So it's like a bob but not so bowl-looking and has definition.
It's great. I love it. Mine is right at the bottom of my neck...not quite shoulder length. It's longer than you think. I can get it up no problem, still out of the way when down and easy to make polished. My hair is so fine and but I have a a lot, that the second it's past my shoulders it's just flat and greasy.
My hair is very very thick and there is a lot of it so without a ton of thinning anything much shorter than should grazing ends up very poofy.
The second one isn't bad, ie done the first one and want something a little different but not sure what. My one experience with bangs was bad but it was a cheap $10 hair place in college.
Do you have a trusted stylist? Maybe ask what they suggest. Google Mina suvari- there's a pic of her with long side swept bangs and shes wearing a greet top. PIP is a pain on my kindle
Oh yeah..get a better stylist. Mine is really great about telling me what will work or won't. She's also great about cutting any style with definiton and shape. She razor cuts my ends that helps a ton too. My haircut is pretty basic but she cuts it so well and I always get compliments.
Mine just cut me some sweeping bangs on each side. I can pull them out if I want them, tuck them back if I don't. I've really come to love those.
I don't hate it (good sign) I really need to learn to style my hair on a regular basis. I'm a loss when it comes to anything past straightening.
Ha! This is me. I just mastered the flat iron last Christmas..lol. I do makeup. I half way do clothes. I don't do hair.
And I'm glad you didn't take me too seriously on the stylist. I was just about to come back and type I didn't mean the girl you had now was bad. I was just making suggestions on what to tell her.
The Jessica biel one is good, and I'm sure I wouldn't have to curl is everyday. I like the length on the bangs on the first one they aren't as scary for me
