Hi there. I'm not a regular poster, but am looking for advice/experience. We have an english bulldog and are fostering a 2nd bully. Last night we had our first experience of head tremors, with the foster's head shaking side to side uncontrollably.
The rescue's vet coordinator said this is fairly common but it was scary! Have any of you had experience with this? We have her honey to try to bring up her blood sugar; which helped to stop the tremor, but only temporarily.
My dog does that when he's nervous about something. His breeders said it's common with Doberman's so I'm guessing it's breed specific. We just rub his neck and he usually stops in a couple minutes.
I'm glad you had a veterinarian that was honest (and not stupid) about it. We were at the vet for a puncture wound when it happened the first time and they wanted to go all out on tests and stuff. I called Hilo's breeders to ask first and told her what the vet said. When I went back in to decline, they told me the that we were wrong and that there was a mental issue. Then I over heard her laughing and calling Hilo's 40 year experienced breeder an idiot so I never went back to them again. That was 2 years ago and he's perfectly fine.
Oh no! That sounds terrible. Last night was the first time it's happened (we've had her about 3.5 wks) and there were 5 within a matter of 3 hrs, with breaks btwn. She seems fined when we left this morning, so hoping it was a one-night stress thing.
Ok, I wasn't sure if it was stopping or not haha. I think she should be fine. After Hilo's first time, it happened a lot but he's almost 3 and I rarely see it happen anymore.
Of course I'm not an expert. Just be careful which vet you take your dog too if you decide to have her checked out. If they are pushy about having you do stuff then run haha. I hardly take Hilo to the vet unless absolutely necessary but I found an awesome vet.
