I've watched this show since it started b/c I think they are adorable and Bill is from Chicago so I feel a connection. I've usually enjoyed it but this season the "product placement" and brand sponsorships are OUT.OF.CONTROL. It is just so obvious that it's insulting. Like, tonight they had a mini-segment in the show where Giuliana and their designer went to Macy's (which I know sponsor their show) to shop for bed linens. There are always OBVIOUS product shots and promos in every episode this season. Almost makes me want to stop watching. Almost.
I think they're cute and watch occasionally, but hate the way they break it up with big "surprise announcement/etc. to come" just before commercial breaks, and then draaaaaag out the news when the show comes back. Blurt it out already, WHATever it is, and get on with the show.
I don't really watch it but I got sucked into some episodes on Sunday. I noticed a few placements but more so I had 2 thoughts - I was annoyed when he was trying to give stuff to charity and she was like "but my friends can take it!" and I was like "dude, your friends are rich! they can buy their own couch!" but then I realized I do the same thing.....but my friends aren't rich -2nd I think I'd be so annoyed if she came to my zumba class - they came in late and she made a huge show of how tired she was, sitting down on the floor and stuff. Dude, chill.
That said I do kind of like them, and I like how much Bill loves Chicago.
eta: the one placement that did stick out to me the most was the lighting company for their new house. It felt like a commercial

It could be b/c I was an Advertising major in college but all of their product placement seem so obviously commercials for the stuff they are hawking that week. You'd think they be a bit more subtle but then maybe they would be paid as much for it.
I lost interest in the show and stopped watching a few weeks ago. Making everything so odviously dramatic.. then commercial. And that same pattern for the entire show until the end of the show when they say what they were trying to say. I just feel like they are streching this out way to much. We know she has the kid, he is healthy, and the climatic lead in to the birth is just kinda boring. I was hoping they would just jump in, show the birth and show how these two are managing life, their careers, and the kid. I would bet my house the series finale will his birth. In a 2 part or 2 hour finale.
Yeah, I agree; it's over the top. I really noticed it last season with HomeGoods and now the Macy's Hotel Collection...especially when she said to her friend/decorator while they were there in the store "this is Hotel Collection which you can ONLY get at Macy's". Come on.
