A few days ago Jenny posted this photo that she hand painted her bathroom:
Now, let me say that I LOVE Jenny and I almost always even if it's not my style can find the good in her projects. I just can't get behind this. I feel like I'm cheating on her by posting this but I wanted others opinions.
I think it's the combination of the color, the darkness of the pictures, the boring hand towel and the thing on the toilet tank that makes it a no for me. None of it goes well together. I do like the inspiration pic, but even that's not swoonworthy.
I think it could look great in the right room, just not that room. Bad color choice and that bathroom just looks badly styled in general. Honestly it looks like a 'before' photo.
It reminds me of bad 90's faux finishing and sponge painting.
This. My mother was crazy with the faux wall treatments and it's sort of turned me off of them forever. She couldn't look at a feather duster/sponge/sliced fruit without wanting to dip it in paint and go to town.
I think she seems like a super nice person, and I give her tons of credit for her successful blog...but I always wonder what her house looks like in person...too much spray paint, too much DIY everywhere...if there is such a thing...I hate that bathroom and I hate those pictures on the wall, seems like trying way to hard. She is really NMS, but I can usually find something to appreciate...not this time...
The more that I look at it, the more that I think the walls are not so bad, but everything else is totally wrong with them, so they look really awful.
The ceiling should not be patterned, the art doesn't look good on it (or even together, although there are a couple of pieces that might look good/work if the others weren't there), the towel is wrong and none of it works together.
Whoever said that it looks like a "before" photo hit the nail on the head.
Jenny takes risks and does things a little differently than everyone else with a blog, so I generally really love her blog. This I hated and skipped right past.
