I'm an aerospace engineer and I've worked for one aerospace company and one software company that was aero oriented. I've also worked as an automotive engineer.
All the big aero companies - like Lockheed Martin and Boeing are extremely bureaucratic. I hate this and all the efficiency and lack of "real" work that goes on. You can pretty much say the same for the big auto companies.
So that would pretty much leave me working for companies like Space X, which is owned by and run by an abusive narcissist. Or, Tesla motors, but that's run by the same narcissist. And I was raised by a guy like that. So, that's out.
The closest I can get is working as a consultant, not a direct employee, in order to avoid some of the dysfunction of the organization. That's what I'm doing now.
