We're packing up to move (temporary until we find a new place) and our couch is going to be in storage for 4-6 months.
I bought that wrap stuff to keep it from getting scuffed and dirty.
But it kind of smells like dog. I'd rather not have it sit and ferment for 4 months.
I thought about putting some baking soda down over night and then vacuuming to see if that would help. Is that a good idea? It's microfiber, dark brown. I don't want it to stain.
Anything that smells like dog in my house gets sprayed with enzymatic cleaner. My microfiber sofa is kind of a mocha color, and it doesn't stain it. I just spray it and leave it to dry (very important step) and let it take care of odors.
ETA: We used to use vodka on smelly costumes when we worked for a professional dance company. We would buy the cheapest bottle that we could find and put it in a spray bottle labeled 'cleaner', because we didn't want any of the dancers getting into it.
I have a mattress that was kept in storage for a while, and now it smells like hot dogs? Not the worst smell in the world, but I wouldn't want my guests to suffer through that. I've been trying enzyme cleaner/baking soda with no luck so far. I'm going to try leaving it out in the sun this weekend to see if that helps, otherwise I'm going to try a vinegar spray next.

Oh gosh! I guess I never thought of the spray because I was worried it would stain. I'll try it on a small spot and see what happens first. Then if that works, I'll spritz it all over!
