I am looking at getting one of these for Christmas. There seems to be a pretty big price difference from the 4.5 qt to the 5 qt. It looks like the 5 qt might have more attachments available. If you have one or have looked into them which one do you think is a better deal.
Great post! I was wondering the same thing! Ive been wanting a KitchenAid stand mixer too! I love to make cookies and stuff especially oatmeal cookies!
Its not necessarily the attachments but the power/wattage of the motor that causes the price tag to go up. There are a few things to factor into your choice: Where will it be stored; counter top or in a pantry. Measure to make sure you have room. The Pro has a lift head and the artisan tilts. Go to the site to get the dimensions. Costco (usually) by far has always had the best price, even when other places offer a coupon because its the Pro series they carry. The only attachment I use regularly is the ice cream maker. I have a catering business and I have the 5 qt. I would like to have the pro but I don't have the space. Its too large to fit where my mixer is kept. The reason I say that is if you can get the Pro, great...but the Artisan works just fine by me. There is about a $100 price difference so if that holds any bearing on which you choose....you're still getting a great mixer no matter what. I would not get a 4.5 qt. The motor is notability slower, more sluggish when mixing dense items.
