So on Monday, I took two opk's that turned almost as dark as the control line (picture in my opk thread). Tuesday, I tested again late morning and got a faint line, which was almost totally gone when I tested a third time Tuesday night. Anyway, with that in mind (and some helpful advice here!) I assumed Monday's test to be the most positive I was going to see and marked it positive/started the fertile window shagathon. Anyway, now it it's Thursday and my temps have remained low. I'm also having some distinct pinching pain this morning, right where I imagine my ovary to be. Is it possible that it is happening now? I'm so confused. Maybe I should just relax and wait for the temp shift? I thought these opk's were supposed to make out easier to figure this stuff out
The OPKs just tell you that your body is gearing up to ovulate.
It can happen 12-36 hours after your positive. So say you got a positive late Tuesday night. You could possibly ovulate some time today, and you likely wouldn't see a temp jump until AFTER you ovulate.
I usually get a positive OPK, then ovulate the next day, and then see a temp jump the following day (which for you would be tomorrow).
You can also get a positive OPK and not actually ovulate, which is why temping AND OPKs are helpful.
I will just add that I don't see a temp shift at all even when I am religious about temping. Apparently sleeping with your mouth open (among many other variables) is enough to screw up temps, so it's completely possible that the OPK is spot-on, and you may never notice the temp shift on your chart.
Okay that makes sense...thank you! I guess it had been about 60 hours since my almost positive, so I guess the timing is not that far off. This is only my second cycle, but last time there was a very clear temp shift (and this pain in having now). I guess it could be happening now...I think I noticed ewcm after my first post today. I should probably just chill out! This ttc stuff is trying on my patience and control freak issues ;D
My temperature hasn't gone up dramatically, so I took another opk this afternoon, just for kicks. This one also came out positive (very clearly the same color/darkness as the control line). I'm confused. Shouldn't the surge have only lasted 48 hours or so? How could it go from positive to negative to positive again?
Care to look at my chart? My Ovulation Chart (My temperature on Day 1 is more like what it was last month after ovulation).
Maybe my body was gearing up for ovulation and then didn't and is trying again? Can that even happen? I guess we'll just keep on keeping on, but we're getting a little exhausted. Maybe my body is just not ready for this after bcp. Sigh.

Yes, you can gear up but then not ovulate. Looks like your body is giving it another try. All you can do is temp for a few more days and see if your temp goes up.
You can have multiple LH surges in a cycle, where only one (or possibly none) result in ovulation. You can also get several patches of EWCM. This is why temping is important -- temping is the only easy way to know that you have ACTUALLY ovulated (short of an ultrasound like NL's where you can clearly see the follicles). Of course, temping only tells you that it HAS ALREADY happened. By the time you see the temp shift, it's too late to do anything about it.
Thanks! I guess I got so excited about the first opk that I just expected it to happen...it has been confusing not to see my temps rise. Well, I'll just keep temping and wait and see. They have gone up slightly over the past coupe days. Oh and I woke up this morning with super sore boobs, just to add another symptom for me to think about
