My old HS, what the fuck!?

So I found out that a guy I graduated with was a coach at the school we went to and was fired for allegedly having sex with a student. My graduating class was under 200 people, so I knew him. I always thought he was a douche, but this made me sick to my stomach. Who thinks that's ok? I remember being a stupid teenage girl and I remember having "crushes" on teachers, but what adult teacher/coach would act on advances made by a teenager? I am blown away. He's also married. It's just scary to me to think of adults who are responsible for our children can do things like this.

I think it's different if you're out of high school. Also, parents are trusting their underaged children in his care. No one working in the school should be sleeping with the students attending school it. What do you think of the guys that dated you when you were that age now that you're an adult? Has it changed your opinion or not? I'm not being snarky, I'm seriously asking. I was a freaking idiot when I was in high school.

Also I ask because my hs bf was 5 yrs older than me and I feel like he was very controlling and I was manipulated by him. I think I missed out on a lot because of him. Maybe that's why it makes me so angry..

I was always mature for my age, so it still doesn't bother me. I was usually the one in control of the relationship... I also know a lot of May/December relationships. However, I agree that a teacher shouldn't be touching a student.

I think the difference between a regular May/December romance and a teacher/student romance is that the teacher holds a position of influence over the student, in addition to age.

Yeah, I think that's what bothers me about it. I understand what Liz is saying too. There are plenty of girls who date older guys and have the power in the relationship and know exactly what they are doing. I dated an older guy and I was not mature or in control, and I'm pretty sure why he wanted to date me.
He is also married, so he shouldn't be chasing any teenage girl.

But, the married part is wrong no matter what the age difference. I dated a married guy who had lied to me and told me he was divorced... the whole thing was fucked up, but I was 24...

Teachers and hs students is just wrong and gross. It's not so much the age difference, but also that the teacher is in a position of authority.

Re - age differences - I think it depends on the individuals involved. My 18 y/o niece was dating a 26 y/o and that really bothered the entire family. However, she was a very immature and he was a douche. I have a friend who started dating a 27 y/o when she was 19 and they have a fantastic relationship.

I think as a parent I would be more upset to find out my high school daughter was having sex with her 30 yr old teacher than just a random 30 yr. I expect the teacher to not cross that boundry. He was a serious douche canoe in high school. I can see him doing this as an ego boost. He totally had small penis syndrome. Little angry guy trying to start fights.
