What to give for coughing and super stuffy kid?

My DD is miserable right now. She was running a 103 fever over the weekend. Now she's just super stuffy and coughing constantly.

We're going to her doctor tomorrow, but she was coughing so much this afternoon that she couldn't sleep for her nap.

Any suggestions for what to give her??? She's too young for a decongestant (she'll be 3 in a couple months). I've given her motrin and claritin, and I'll put saline in her nose and suck it out before I put her in bed.

She coughed so hard earlier today she threw up :-(

They sell some suckers that are called Honey Pops (made by Little Noses) that I gave to DS when he had a cough. I found them at Target.

Does Vicks work to decongest her? And there's that remedy of putting Vicks on the bottoms of their feet, covered with socks, when they go to sleep. I'm not sure if it really helps, though.

We got a vicks nightlight that you put smelly pads into. It's made for kids. We use that at night when they're really stuffy.

You can, also, steam up a bathroom and keep her in there for a while and it will help the congestion.

Maybe try a humidifier? Can you prop her up on a pillow to help her breathe?

I have always done:
Sleeping propped up
Humidifier
Vicks
Saline in the nose
Steamed up bathroom

Sorry, there isnt much you *can* do at this age...hope she feels better soon!

Benadryl if coughing is preventing sleep. Usually it's post-nasal drip that's causing the coughing, and the Benadryl dries that up.

Delsym for cough at night, but not during the day. She needs to get the junk out.

DS is a super-cougher (vomits multiple times a day every time he has a cold) so we give him Delsym at night so he can sleep. His pedi recommended it.
