I have the same damned problem. I told DH that instead of getting each other presents, we should just choose an extra fancy hotel and super dooper nice dinner the one night we have in Portland after my family reunion. That's a present!

I am requesting new princess cut diamond earrings (I wear tiny round ones everyday and want an upgrade) or a simple diamond necklace. Like a solitaire on a thin chain.
And I ordered myself a ridiculous amount of clothing from the J.Crew sale, but used DH's credit card for it so it's "his" present to me (It'll count for Christmas and my bday the 22nd.)
I want: Cards Against Humanity some Sephora stuff (tinted moisturizer, a lip sampler) cake decorating set magazine subscriptions Roomba (not happening, but I want one) Aeropress espresso maker Yoga g/c Spa g/c

Gardening gloves and a new Counting Crows CD, because I listened to my old one so many times that it wore out. I'd also like a new JCrew cashmere sweater, but that's a tad over budget.
We're basically not doing gifts this year - but I did ask for Cards Against Humanity, and then we're just going to do stockings. We're trying to save money, and while there are a lot of things I would LIKE to have, there's nothing I really need. We're better off waiting until next year, when hopefully we'll have a bit more fun money. Or maybe a baby, and then we'll still be saving money

Usually I have trouble thinking of a list for family/DH, but this year I came up with stuff no problem! A new purse, new running shoes, fun jewelry, winter boots, Family Feud Wii game (I looove that game, haha
Obviously, I won't get all of these, but my husband likes a lot of stuff to choose from so what he actually does get me seems more like a "surprise".
Everything I want is to replace something I lost/wore out--a gap 3/4 sleeve cardigan in white (which got lost when I went to my brother's wedding--I'm sure one of the other bridesmaids has it or it to left at the site) and running shoes.
I'm the same way -- if there's something I really want, I usually just buy it for myself. Around this time of year I have to remind myself that if I want something I should put it on my "christmas list" and let someone else buy it for me:-)
So far:
- Bose soundlink - Hunter wellies (inspired by wine cherry!) - A new pizza cutter - Some Le Creuset stuff - KitchenAid stand mixer (still left over from our wedding registry) - maybe some baby stuff, but it will still be really early for that
Overall, my family and H's family do a good job of finding things that I like that I wouldn't buy for myself. My MIL and SIL are actually really good at picking out clothes for me, so that's really fun. I think I would prefer to get gifts that someone else picks out for me than get something I specifically ask for. I like being surprised by people's thoughtfulness.

Cool!! Where are you going??
Haven't decided yet. My cousin who lives there recommended a couple of cool hotels, so we should probably pick one soon.

YAYYY!!! Which color? You must get them I wore them yesterday and omg they feel wonderfully secure, like I could climb up a muddy mountain and not die.
Also, I have Le Creuset and the KA Mixer, and those products are so worth the cash. I have the ice cream maker attachment for the mixer and it's changed my life. For real. :Y:

I can't decide which color! Part of me wants something fun like bright yellow or light blue, but I think I might be more likely to wear them often if I get navy or olive or tan or something boring and neutral. I like your grey ones, but didn't want to be a copy-cat:-)

Copy cat away! I have a bright raincoat, so I needed more neutral boots tho. If you have a neutral coat, totally get the bright colored shoes!
Honestly tho, the grey are pretty chic, I cannot lie.

These are some of the things that I've been meaning to buy for myself, so I'll ask for them for Christmas first
