..since TN/TB implosion.
I plan to call the pedi and ask day care about this too b/c I need to know what to do in the next six weeks (!!) to prep her for turning 1.
My mom said no bottle after 1 year. Is that right? Not even before bed? I feel like I'd still BF after 1 if she were still on the boob so I don't know why bottles must stop.
I've read that you switch to WCM at 1 year. So now we're quickly going from bottles of formula to sippy cups of WCM. She'll get enough calories and nutrition from this?
When can we quit purees? They're a PITA but she doesn't seem to get much finger food into her mouth yet so we keep going w/ the purees.
She's also taken to making a yuck face and turning away when we offer foods so that'll be fun to overcome. :/

I started introducing WCM at around 11 months and he was weaned to the soft-nipple-like sippies by 1. I let him have glasses all throughout the day, before bed time but I didn't put him to bed/in bed with one. I didn't break the paci habit until 15 months but he was already down to paci for nap/bed anyway by 12 months.
As far as foods, he was on table foods. I just tore/cut up/shredded what we were having and gave it to him. Lots of mashed potatoes, steamed veggies, fruits, toast, pasta, etc.
This was all cleared by his pedi as he had no growth/weight issues. HTH!! can't believe she's almost 1!

Food ideas that aren't purees: yogurts, rice mixes ( homemade and adding chunks of steamed veggies so as to avoid high sodium ), soft home made sweet potato fries were some favs of his at about 1 yr!

Thanks, K!
She's been taking a sippy of water at home and a sippy of formula at day care so I hope it's a smooth transition. We'll have to start pushing the sippy w/ WCM more in the next couple weeks.
Thankfully, she started playing with the paci vs. sucking it around 9 mo so I just put them all away.
Sounds like we need to push more solids too. She's had some of all that you listed but not routinely....lots of cheerios, toast, and fruit chunks. They start real food chunks at day care at 11 mo and anything they do there really seems to solidify it for her so that should help too.

You can use bottles after 1 year, but work on moving away from them. At 15 months we are just dropping them. He really seems to like the BornFree sippies (if you are looking for sippy ideas). We do use some of the toddler formula at times. More for taking out during the day instead of trying to keep milk cold.
We still do purees. Those squeeze pouches? Freaking awesome. There are some awesome mixes in some of them as well. The Plum Organic line has some with grains like quinoa in them.
Just keep offering the real foods. She'll come around eventually. j couldn't stand them for a while but came around. It can take 10 tries before they accept new things.

I still use squeeze pouches and K is 2.5! It's the only way I can get veggies in her, and she asks for them.
We were completely off bottle by 13 months, daytime at 12 months. In her daycare they couldn't move up until they were off a bottle during the day so they pushed it. Also at 12 months I had all intentions of slowly mixing in cows milk and formula, but at the same time was the great similac recall of 2010 so just switched her all together
I second the squeeze pouches. My little guy loves them! Another thing I found recently that I love are those frozen veggies that you pop in the microwave that steam in the bag. So easy and so healthy for finger food!

We're already in transition mode. She nurses in the morning and before bed and only gets one bottle of breastmilk and WCM but the amount has been cut down. We offer her WCM in a sippy cup with all three meals and she gets a snack after each of her naps.
I haven't been keeping very good track on the amounts of WCM she's getting but I'd guess it's around 6-8 oz depending on her day.
ETA: Keep offering the fingers foods first. Toast with a little jam or cream cheese, shredded chicken, beans, shredded veggies (carrots & zucchini were a hit in our house), eggs, peas, string beans. We just shred or cut up whatever we're eating and offer it to her...she's a little piggy though. If C isn't ingesting enough you can always give her purees after you're done eating.

Our Pedi wanted J off bottles at 13 months. My friends pedi said 18 months. We're at 13 months and he still gets a bedtime bottle. I feel ok about that. We'll be done with it soon.
The recommended amount of WCM at 1 year (from my pedi) was 12-16 oz a day. So with food, yes that's where they get all their nutrition. We stopped purees at 11 months. He was never that into them anyway. He's not a great eater. I worry that he isn't getting enough food. He will basically eat fruit, cottage cheese, cheese, whole grain waffles and those yucky gerber raviolis. Not fresh ravioli that I cook myself, only the gerber kind. WTF??
We started transitioning him to whole milk 2 weeks before he turned 1. I just started mixing it in with his formula like 4 oz formula and 2 oz milk. His stools were a little crazy for like a week but other than that he was fine.

Thank you! All of this is very helpful. I think we'll start on WCM in the sippy as soon as I can get to the grocery store this weekend to make for an easier transition at one year. I'm going to try those BornFree sippies, ghost. She mostly chews on the handles of the ones we have currently.
I'm also going to stock up on finger foods. Luckily, if I get the food past her squished in yuck face and she likes it, she's all FEED ME THAT GOOD STUFF! Food is guilty until proven innocent to her.
I've never done the puree pouches. Can she already suck the puree out of it at 11ish months? That'd be awesome for when we're out and about.

you can squeeze them I didnt start until she was older because she didn't start refusing veggies until almost 18 months. Now she gets a pouch (I like the Ella's kitchen with spinach, pear and broccoli I think).

We did WCM at 1 year on the nose and dropped bottles/formula cold turkey. They did great. They weren't really taking bottles from about 10 months on. We did formula in sippys.
We were off purees and onto 100% table food/big people food by 10 months. They started wanting to feed themselves and they were way more interested in what we were eating. We did a modified blw starting @ 6 months, so they were pretty used to biting and chewing. We feed them tons of fresh fruits (only thing we haven't tried is raspberries and blackberries), greek yogurt, oatmeal, pancakes/waffles, pasta, steamed veggies (crockpot)-squash, zucchini, sweet potato, broccoli, cauliflour, carrots, etc. The Annie's mac n cheese is a little better for them. They love it.
If I were breastfeeding I'd keep going until she's ready to ween. But I was a bf failure and have a little bit of bf envy
Still working on paci's. We have good days and bad days, but they're here to stay for now. I'll probably start trying to ween them in a month or so (they just turned 14 months on the 22nd). Its going to be a nightmare.
