I'm not either! And her teachers tried to convince me to keep her home the next two days since they'll just be playing. No thanks, I need my last 2 days of freedom!
1 got out yesterday, 1 gets out today and 2 get out tomorrow.
I don't like the unstructure of summer. I need my kids on a schedule.
I have them at a lot of camps which is good but doesn't complete the whole summer and I'm screwed. My nanny is having a baby in 4 weeks. There are no summer camps Aug. 1-Aug 10. Boys start back August 10th. SD starts back to school Aug. 1 so she can't earn some money and watch her brothers.
I also hate the unstructure. There's not as many camps and things offered where I live. Gaby has quit everything she used to be interested in.
I work nights so having them home disrupts my sleeping schedule a lot. My mom and MIL plan on helping me a lot this summer.
At least I got started on the lexapro!
Camps definitely get harder as they get older. It is like pulling SD's teeth to get her to agree to camps. She loves music, goes to a music school yet doesn't want to do the rock band camp near our house. She did agree to dance camp and drivers ed so I have 6 weeks covered btwn camps and travel but that still leaves her 3 weeks to get herself into trouble or mope around the house.
I swear "kids today" have a much shorter school year than I ever did. I used to get out the equivalent of June 8, and start school the equivalent of August 20, I think. And we only had a week off for Christmas and Easter.
Maybe due to budget cuts?
I don't know, we always got out about this time, and started at the end of August. Now they start around august 12. They do get longer breaks during the school year. We never had a week off for spring break. I'm guessing it's about the same, at least here.
It is the same number of days just more breaks during the year.
My kids get a 4 day weekend in October (we never got that). A week at Thanksgiving (we got a 1/2 day the Wed before). I think we have almost 3 weeks at Christmas this year (I always remember going up the 23rd and coming back the 2nd) and a week in March for spring break.
