Are there any names that used to be on your list, but got removed because they became too popular or you know someone who has that name and that turned you off the name or something like that?
I have 1 name I used to love but then I met someone with that name who is a total biatch, and now I associate her with that name and I don't love it as much anymore. Another name I like is super popular here ATM. Since I wouldn't like my hypothetical DD to have 5 other kids with the same name in her class, that name moved far down the list (unless it takes long enough for me to have a girl that the name isn't popular anymore.)

I like a lot of girl names that happen to be popular, but I wouldn't pick them precisely because they are popular. DH & I both like traditional names so I have a feeling that's what we'll end up with. We have no list as of right now though so who knows.
Our last name ends in y so I feel that eliminates all names ending in y, ie, or that sound in general. Too singsongy.

I was the only one of my kind in all my classes. I love my name. I want my kid to love their name too...I am no longer "using" a name my friend chose for her daughter. I can find others that I can love.
I loved Sophia, but it got so popular. Same with Oliver, and I have a billion friends who named their kid that. Jack and Lauren are also off the imaginary list due to friends. It just feels too much like copying -and these are people we interact with regularly, so my imaginary kids could play with them a lot. I also used to love Liam, but feel like it's right up there like Jennifer and Jason in the 80s.

My H and I decided on Brooklyn for a girl, but I think it's too popular and now I doubt naming my daughter something so trendy. We still like Brooke though!
Growing up I always loved Madison, then in the 7 years since I've been married its shot up in popularity
omg this name is hugely popular! Working with kids def affects my perception of names, because if so and so is an asshole, I'm not naming my kid that, even if it's a great name, kwim?
I've had a TON of Maddy/Maddie/Madys over the recent years. I have had three Kaias this fall too.
All the names I love are family names, and luckily they're not very popular. My H is a teacher, though, so he crosses a new one off the imaginary list every few months!!

There are a few names taken off our list because they don't work with DS's name. Another name eliminated cause someone in my family used it. One name is gone because H worked with a guy with the name, and he was apparently a douche. Sad, cause I loooved that one.
my sister and I keep getting pissed at our cousins for having babies and using our favorite names. especially my cousin who's married to a spaniard and keeps using all those easy-to-pronounce in English and a romance language! She keeps having boys and those are the hard ones to find!
My mom told us to relax, though, the children of our cousins will be distantly related to our kids. And even some of our first cousins have the same names, so it seems siblings can do it too.
Sophia/Sophie was super high on my list until I found out a coworker who is a complete douche named his kid Sophia. I don't want to have anything in common with that ass face.
When H and I FIRST met (almost 12 years ago OMG) he played me a song. The song is named after a girl (specifically, the singer's daughter). H says "I love this name. If I ever have a daughter, I'm naming her that and I want to sing this song to her." I liked it. We joked that we had our daughter's name picked out before we were even dating.
Unfortunately, the name is WAY too close to Aiden/Braydon/Jaydon/Caden than I care for it to be, so I had to tell H that it was no longer my favorite. Which sucks, because it was the only name we've ever agreed on.
