I'm thinking about it. We've been gone all week for FIL's dealio and thus, haven't been home to get the oven replaced. So it's Marie Callenders or however you spell that trick's name or a restaurant.
I'm going to end up stabbing people in line, aren't I?
No. I like to avoid the public on big holidays. This is not to say that eating out on those days isn't tasty. Years ago we went to Steak & Ale one year. Good stuff.

I have done it a few times when it has just been my immediate family. It is always nice a stress free for everyone. It does suck not having left overs. Also, make reservations one year my mom forgot to and everywhere open was booked solid. We ate Thanksgiving dinner at 10:30 am.
We did it a few times with my mom's side of the family. A family owned restaurant near us does a REALLY nice holiday buffet, with REAL turkey, and all the food is SUPER good. We went there for about 5 years, after my grandpa died, and my grandma was always too depressed to cook a big meal.
A coworker pre-orders their holiday meals from one of the hotels in town and eats it at home with the family. She says it's awesome, all the best foods and they arrive in disposable containers so no dishes. I'd prefer that.
We ordered out once. MIL was sick and we went to their place for Thanksgiving since she just got home from the hospital. We got Thanksgiving meals from some restaurant they liked. The food wasn't horrible, but it certainly wasn't Thanksgiving in my mind.
Yes, first time ever. We're driving five hours with our toddler to meet my in-laws in Chicago. It was supposed to be less stressful. We'll see how things work out.

I wish.
I have gone out for Thanksgiving before. As long as the place you choose is good, it is nice, relaxing and there is space for everybody at the same table.
We are. Since my inlaws live over 9 hours away and my husband has to work black Friday we are meeting them in a nearby city to have a Thanksgiving Lunch at Cracker Barrel's. It's actually not bad and far better then the Ruby Tuesday option they wanted that first year. they always offer a traditional Thanksgiving dinner but I always go for the catfish
Now everyone looks forward to it (my inlaws have become obsessed with the place since it's the only time they ever get to eat there) and it makes for no clean up or stress on my end.
Yum! Maybe try a hotel brunch. They usually bring it.

This is a fantastic idea. I've seen a couple advertised but was feeling iffy about the whole thing.
I usually either cook or we go to my IL's but we were just there so that's not an option. I could probably wrangle up an invitation somewhere but since I wasn't at church yesterday, I don't have a way to come up with one organically instead of just inviting myself over lol

When my mom lost her eyesight, we started having catered holidays, too. Your local butcher might do one.
I feel like staying home would be incredibly depressing given that we were supposed to be in Florida at my IL's for thanksgiving. At least if we go out, I get to distract myself by being a judgey bitch.

We did a hotel Thanksgiving buffet one year growing up. My brother had a hockey tournament somewhere not close to home, so we went out with some of the other families. It was hands down my favorite Thanksgiving growing up. It was kind of fun to celebrate with hundreds of other people.

Last year we went to a buffet at a hotel restaurant. It was nice and the food was good. I wanted to go out again this year but, to a different restaurant. My H decided he didn't want to. Now we are staying home and I am cooking something.
