So sick of toys, it seems like she has everything, and we have a small house anyway, She is well stocked on clothes, and I already added a bunch of books to my amazon cart.
8yr old...Guitar (plus lessons), Art lessons, art books, some art stuff, DS game, itouch plus other crap Almost 6yr old...Keyboard (plus lessons), Art lessons, Kareoke machine, barbie cruise ship, leap pad plus other crap 3yr old...Bitty Baby changing table & carrier, leap pad and other crap
That's all we've come up with so far. DH thinks instruments might be lame & we should replace these with other thing. Our plan is 1 big thing, 2 medium & 4 small plus 6 or so really small per kid from Santa, then a few things from us each.
What about some art supplies? New crayons, pad of spiral Crayola paper, etc.
I like the membership idea paired with something small/simple and tangible that relates to the membership. Like an aquarium membership with a book about fish, or a zoo membership with a book about her favorite animal. Then get one of those lanyards with a clear pocket and hang throw the membership in there so it's tangible to her.
Is there anything for her rooom such as bedding, small furniture item, or organizational item (Land of Nod baskets, etc.) that you have been wanting to get anyway?
More toys, so you probably don't want my ideas. But, I am stupidly excited to give her the American Girl Hannukah set with a doll-sized menorah. I'm also pretty proud of myself for picking this up on our recent NY trip without DD noticing.
We go to zoos and museums all the time anyway. If I got DD a membership to one of those, she wouldn't really understand what was special about it. But, I am looking forward to the day I can get her a mommy & me cooking workshop as a gift. She has to be 8 for that.

What about those child sized baking sets? They usually come with a mini sized baking apron, paired with child sized mixing spoon, and a few other child sized items. Amazon usually has sets. Big hit with my nieces. You can pair with a children's cookbook, and maybe even buy the ingredients to make a recipe from the book?

DD is 2.5, and our house is smaller, so our "theme" this year is out door toys. Santa is bringing a play hosue, and my family is accessorizing it - pretend grill foods, wheel barrow, sports equipment.
DS's big gift is a train board (screwing his train tracks down so he can actually enjoy them since he's 2) that slides under his imaginarium table so no extra space required.
For my neice and nephew who are 3&5 I got them Brain Quest cards (and a pre- preschool curriculum book for their mom).
My kid is almost 3. She's getting a small doll house and some big girl puzzles for her birthday.
She's getting books , a train set, and some kitchen stuff (probably food, maybe pots and pans) from me and DH. My mom is buying a play kitchen. All of these are shared toys. We'll get 6 books total 3 targeted more for my older kid and 3 for my younger kid (15M)
Several toys will be decommissioned before all these new one come in.

I am putting together a dress up kit for my daughter, who will be three tomorrow. I bought a mermaid and fairy costume on sale at Gymboree. I ordered a box of three super hero costumes on amazon, and some plastic princess shoes. I also got her a fire hat. She loves to play pretend, and doesn't have any costumes at home.

It will depend on what we get for our upcoming shower.
I will probably get them each 1 book, one toy (batman related for 4 yo, Thomas the train for 2 yo), 1 art type present, then one big present for both of them. For a big present, I am thinking a Train Table, Play Kitchen, or Nintendo Wii.
You could also get her tickets to various children's theater productions or a "spa day" at Sweet and Sassy. What I'm getting for DD: a bowling set, a train set, some games, puzzles, a toy baking set and a Belle doll. For her b-day we're getting her Bitty Baby and my parents are getting her a doll crib. Maybe you could get her some summer toys which she could open now but play with when the weather is better.

My 9 year old is getting a subscription to American Girl magazine, some AG accessories for her dolls, a telescope, a photo book of her Tae Kwon Do black belt graduation, a fleece hoodie, and a diary among other things.
My 6 year old is getting the AG doll she wants, slippers, Hanna Andersson dresses, a plush fairy doll, a baby Merida doll, the Brave movie DVD.
The both get an ornament and some other small odds and ends as Hanukkah gifts.
Not all of that is from DH and myself... a bunch is from my parents, sister, and ILs.
At three they both loved dolls and other imaginative play stuff, art supplies, books and pretty dresses.

DD (will be 15 mos): Melissa and Doug shape sorter, a leapfrog "cellphone", a little remote control car (she loves trying to play with DS's), an anywhere chair, and some books. I'm thinking about a cabbage patch as well as I saw one that looks a lot like her at Target the other day.
DS (4): an imaginext castle, some imaginext accessories, avengers on DVD, a leapfrog reading pen and some books to go with it, a book about science experiments to do at home. I kinda want to buy him a toy that involves building circuits, but I think I need to assess what were already have, I may have gone a little overboard already.

LO is only 19 months, so it might not be relevant. We are getting him new cups/plates/spoons/etc. We are having an issue with him being uninterested in eating and found having him eat the food to figure out who is in his bowl (Mickey or Thomas) really helps.
Ditto art supplies/play-doh (if you let LO use it at home). The Target by me has a pretty cool set of dough tools in their cheapie bins by the front of the store.
Books...they are his favorite thing.
Are you potty training? Maybe some cool new undies?

We have this from last xmas. H and DS used it once....lol.

Good to know! I can scratch that off the list then, DH already thinks I have too much stuff for the kids as is.
We have the Ergo one and DD loved/loves it so much that it made the moving-out-of-the-country cut this past January (when she was 3.5).
I think I may have to get this.. I wear her little brother in the ergo all the time!
We're trying to stick with the something you want, something you need, something you wear, something you read, plus stockings.
Last year I went crazy and bought all the things for Xmas. And then so did my inlaws and parents. We're hoping to move next spring.. So time to reel it in so I don't have to pack all this stuff lol.
