DS one year blood work showed that he has low iron so the pedi said to give him an iron supplement. I got the enfamil ones (at the dr's suggestion). DS has taken them the past two nights and they must taste horrible because he does the whole body shudder (kind of like when you take a shot of bad tequila ha ha).
He takes it for now, but I am not sure how much longer he will keep it up! I can't seem to find any other brands
I have been feeding him some foods that are high in iron (lentils and the like) but I don't know how well it will work.
how low was it? seriously those drops taste like shit and my kid always spit out everything that they were in. You did BLW, right? what sort of things does he eat now?

I don't know how low it was, my husband is the one that talked to the dr and he didn't get me any info. We go back in on Friday for a check up on his ear infection so I will ask then. As of now I just squirt the iron drops in his mouth and he is okay with it so far (just looks grossed out).
He eats a fair amount of everything these days, but he doesn't eat a lot of it...expect bread he likes lot of bread.
DS2 had low iron, and hated those iron drops. He always spit them out. We did our best to mix them in with food, but that would often make him turn up his nose at whatever they were in. As soon as he could eat gummies, we switched.

My DD had low iron around that age. Her doctor had me give her a whole Flinstones vitamin (usually for her age she'd have gotten a half) every day. I actually used the Target generic.
They are much, much better than those nasty drops. Have you tasted those things? They are vile!
We also did a lot of baby oatmeal mixed with applesauce or other purees, even though she was mostly off of purees by then. Bonus was that the cereal makes the applesauce thicker, so she was able to feed herself, which was fun for her.

This is what I was going to suggest as well. Also I've noticed some of the pouches have raisins in them, which would help.
The chewables dissolve quickly (especially once they have been broken in half), or they can be crushed. DD started eating them at 10 or 12 months and never had an issue. And the iron could be the culprit, but WCM was worse for us (we had to dilute 50/50 with water).
Yeah, I don't think WCM is the problem. He has been on it for over a month and has no issues. Day 2 of iron drops and constipation so I am pretty sure it is that. I will work on getting him more water today. The kid eats like 8lbs of fruit a day so you would think it would keep him moving!
