DD hasn't kept socks on for more than 2 seconds since she was about a day old.
This. And as for shoes to keep them on, she hardly ever wears them now and certainly didn't before she was mobile. I'm not wasting money on shoes for show.
My kid wore socks under footed sleepers. We never had trumpette, but I also heard that those were the only ones that would stay on. (We didn't have a problem with other socks falling off but again, they were under a footie sleeper; there was nowhere for them to go.)
We use them a decent amount at 1 month. In the house he'll wear footed sleepers or a ls onesie with socks. When I dress him up to go out in public (because he's so darn cute in those outfits) he gets warm fuzzy socks to go with his pants. I usually keep them on by keeping him in the Moby. Also, he has big feet so they stay on well.

yes, for all. But, they were all spring/summer babies. I like the carter fold over socks, they are great and worth every penny when they're scrawny little things. I do like footed pants when you can find them too. Couldn't do sleepers all the time, though b/c they got too hot in the car seat in them.
DS was born at the end of Feb, and wore fitted sleepers until summer, then nothing on his feet. Once his feet turned into little iceboxes in early Sept I put socks on him. Since Oct he wears socks in the house, and socks + soft-soled shoes when we go places.

Most of the clothes for my daughter was given to us. I prefer the sleepers with feet, but we also have several that are footless. She always wears socks with those. I generally will put socks on her when she is lounging around the house in a diaper and blanket. But I never fold them down, I pull them straight up. They stay on well enough.

DD was born at the end of August. She rarely wore socks as a newborn. I think daycare wanted something on her feet, so she was probably in just socks for a bit while at daycare. For a little while I think we sent her in Robeez without socks. Since she started walking she wears shoes and socks at daycare or if we go out somewhere. At home we still try to keep her in bare feet. We have hardwood floors throughout our house, so socks are more slippery, even with the stuff on the bottom. She does have a pair of toddler Robeez that someone gave us a gift, so if it too cool we will put those on her at home.
She is very skilled at removing her shoes and socks. Often she will have both shoes and socks off by the time we got home from daycare. She has not done it as much lately, so maybe she was just too warm in the summer months.
