Hello all. I am a random lurker across the boards (but also a Navy wife) and I just saw this and wanted to share with any of you that have small kiddos:
Starting tomorrow, there will be free diapers given away at select military bases. Maybe one of you can benefit!
Here's a snippet from the link:
"Huggies is partnering with the Armed Services YMCA – a military non-profit that makes military life easier with free programs and services to enlisted military and their families nationwide. 1.75 million diapers will be donated to the San Diego Armed Services YMCA to kick off this patriotic donation to military families. Additionally, Armed Services YMCA branches at Fort Bragg |Camp Lejeune, NC, Camp Pendleton, 29 Palms, and San Diego, CA, in addition to Fort Campbell, KY and Fort Leonard Wood, MO, will also receive diapers, with a total donation of 4 million diapers, valued at $400,000, to the Armed Services YMCA."
I wish they were donated to women's shelters/ homeless shelters instead of people with steady paying jobs. I'm glad they're trying to support troops but this is weird to me.

This. No offense, but if you can't afford diapers with BAH and/or a paycheck, i have issues.
They are coming out (or have come out) with a camo print diaper. I would put my disability check on it that those are the ones they are giving out.

wrote that without reading the article. ignore the smart-assness. And to help "young military families"....please. If they are that young maybe they shouldn't be popping out kids.

Well, there are young military families having kids. And money issues. Even 25 years ago they had families on WIC and food stamps because they met the criteria. And salaries sure haven't kept up.
I'd rather they give them to shelters though. Makes more sense to me. But yeah, to promote the camos, wtg marketing department.
(computer won't open the article so I haven't read it.)

While I do agree, no one's salaries have kept up. I know a lot of people in the military (not generalizing, but just random beebee comments Ive heard IRL) that they are owed things like this. I respect each and every thing every service member does for this country and feel they deserve the world, but some things like this are purely for promotional purposes.

I work for the military as an advocate and it's sad to say but we definitely have a lot of wives that are DV victims that can use this resource. In fact as soon as I saw this I thought YES! because I have several clients that could use it. Thanks for sharing OP!
ETA: DARN! the san diego one is closed as of today. Too bad! I have some girls that could have really used it
Judge away but I stood in line to get 2 boxes. Our ASYMCA made it for E-5 & below so I went. It was in association with their Spring give-away that included kids clothes & toys (donated), shirts from past base events & some popcorn from the Boy Scouts.
Jameson, yes, they gave away the Wal-Mart Camo print.

Even though I'm feeling judgey today, no judgement passed on you. I like that they at least at a maximum pay rate for it at least.
