I am about 24 weeks. I was getting in the car earlier tonight and felt a tiny gush of liquid. Came home, went to the restroom, and my underwear was pretty damp/wet. I changed it, then was dumb enough to google "leaking amniotic fluid", which leads to scary results.
So, uh, is it normal to have a lot of discharge come out at once? Or pee a little and not realize it this early? Or is this worthy of a call? I feel silly calling about what is most likely urine or vaginal discharge.
I also read to try laying down for half an hour, then stand up and see if it happens again. I'm currently trying that.
Also, I trust your answers more than the baby center google results. TIA
Update: I had spoken to my ER nurse friend last night and felt comfortable waiting to call the doctor until the morning, since I laid down and it did not happen again, it didn't smell, and it was more sticky than watery.
Called this morning and talked to a nurse, she asked a bunch of questions and said it sounds completely normal, like leukorrhea (?). I have an appointment Monday anyway. Better safe than sorry, though, so glad I called. :-)

If it felt abormal, I'd call now. They can do an easy swab test to see if it's amniotic fluid. I'd rather do that then feel a huge gush later and have it be your water and regret not calling sooner.
It was around that time that I started to have that icky pregnancy discharge (both my first and this pregnancy), and yes, it can sometimes come out a lot at a time.
Of course, it would be a perfectly good reason to call your doctor if you are concerned. That's what they are there for!
I would call. I will say that I am 16 wks and have been having trouble with holding my urine if I sneeze, cough hard, or vomit (m/s). So hopefully that is all it is.
No further leaking after laying down for 30 minutes. (and all seems normal now)
I called my bff, who is an er nurse, and she said it's most likely cervical fluid (bless her heart, she got a very detailed description, lol). She said to take it easy, keep an eye on it and if it is tinged with color or keeps "leaking" to call tonight. I think I'm ok to just call the doctor's office in the morning and ask if they want me to come in vs going to the er tonight unless anything changes.
