I've been feeling 'panic-attack' symptoms since 9AM. I have not had a panic attack in prob 10 years. I'm sure those back then were stress-induced (school, whatever) and this morning it just feels like I'm choking. No pain, just total "WTF" discomfort.
We have a nurse on-site so I spoke with her and she checked my BP/pulse. The BP is fine/normal (109/70) but the pulse is wonky. Listening to my chest, she could hear a 'bump-bump' skip like a PVC, but I do NOT have an irregular heartbeat normally. I think this may be causing the shortness of breath.
We called the OB/GYN from the nurses desk so she could relay the info to my doc's nurse. The nurse told me to come in @ 2 (next available), and I TRULY don't feel like I'm dying or need the E.R. The nurse at my doc's insisted it was a panic attack (which, yeah, may be!) but I really am not freaking out.
I have bad anxiety and switched from Ativan to an antihistamine while I am PG. I still have breakthrough anxiety and when it occurs I focus on my breathing and try not to feed into it. I actually woke up early this morning with a racing heart and was having a panic attack, I also have a cold/allergies so I attributed it to that. The feeling sucks and I hope they can help you prevent it from happening again. I was told that hormone fluctuations during pregnancy may make them worse (or more likely to occur?).

A benedryl is really not a bad idea. I'll bring it up to the doc when I see her this afternoon!
