so back story.. i've worked out with a couple. my gym offers a free session every month, plus a few years ago i signed up for the biggest loser competition so i still have a few sessions from that. i've been losing weight without really going to the gym. when i used to go to the gym, my body looked better. now that i work all the time and barely have tiem to sleep let alone go to the gym (excuses, i know...), i'm thinking about talking to a personal trainer. do you think they'll think i'm not very motivated if i say that i can only commit to 3 workouts a week? i don't know why but i'm terrified this time.
I went to see a personal trainer at a smaller gym when I was in college. The woman made fun of my "chicken arms" (my arms are super weak and skinny) After that, I didn't use a personal trainer for a long time because I was pretty self conscious about that... I ended up hiring a personal trainer starting in January of 2010 because I was so out of shape (out of breath going up one flight of stairs). She was incredibly patient with me and really encouraging even when I didn't stick to the plan. So, I think as long as you find the right one, you'll be just fine
the right one is what scares me. the guy i love is now too high up that he doesn't train anymore. but there is this girl that looks ok. she seems super friendly. i just want these people to REALLY know how to train me. lol.
I would just keep trying out new trainers until you find one you like. My old trainer was able to motivate me but still be pretty non-judgemental (haven't seen her since I switched gyms and started slacking off ... see I can make excuses too!). I think they won't get offended, they probably have clients of all sorts of shapes, sizes, and levels of fitness.
You might want to just say what your fitness situation is (doing a good job losing weight but "out of shape" in other dimensions) at the front desk and see if they can pick a winner for you?

I'd love to work out with a personal trainer, but can't afford it. If you want a cheaper option look into small group training programs. That way they will miss you and ask about you if you skip and you still get that one on one attention. If you are feeling brave you can try my crossfit gym in Issaquah. They are seriously awesome there.
I do and I love it. I've worked with my trainer for a few years now, and just recently, decided to take the plunge to work out on my own. He gave me three workouts to rotate between, and now I meet with him every few weeks to sync up, change things up, etc.
I love my current trainer (he's at the pro club). It was absolutely key to my weight loss/fitness. I didn't like crossfit, but I don't know if that's due to not liking the box I went to (in capitol hill) or not liking crossfit in general.
well i'm not going to pay for anything extra. see my op. but yes, i did talk to my old trainer a couple of months ago but it was during a busy time, during the end of a biggest loser thing, and everyone was booked when i was open. so i just gave up. i think i'll go back in and ask him who he suggests.. and whose style is closest to his. then i'll pick them and hope for the best. i pretty much don't like any trainers because of how i've heard them flirting with guests...
