I was going to post this as the QOTD in the Good Morning thread, but someone beat me to it. Last night I had a weird dream in which I was able to bring a big screen to a bunch of villages in Africa where the people had never before seen a movie. I got into an argument with the person who was doing it with me about which movie to show, though. Unfortunately, I don't remember what my choice was in the dream.
So... if you had to choose a fictional movie (not a documentary on health issues or something, but the movie can be based on a true story) to show to people who had never even seen a movie before, which one would you choose and why?

eta - I adore Chaplin and the depth of his artistry together with being virtually boundary-less, idiom-less and universal make him the best example of the film art form, I think.

The problem with The Great Dictator is that it's a satire and would assume a knowledge of history that wouldn't necessarily be present. But Chaplin does sound like a good choice :-)
(and note how I have not even answered my own question - I've got nothing better)

I was originally thinking something with a lot of special effects, but after reading the above, I think something more subtle with humor would be a better choice.
