Could I have brands? I don't really like candles too much. But, I am willing to gift some LOL!
they must be fancy/expensive LOL - this is in response to the Auntie gift post. They don't do Yankee. (I do, and love that big FLagship store in VA. Someday I hope to make it out tot he one in MA).
People rave about the Jo Malone ones. Way too much cash for me.
I love candles but good for me is a) didn't come from the dollar store b) doesn't contain lead c) smells good. I'm not overly fussy though. I prefer soy most of the time just because of the clean burn and Hs allergies.
I'd just get a local brand or something off etsy...they'll never know if it was expensive or not.
I also love Yankee Candles, but White Barn Candle Co (aka Bath & Body's candles) are probably my favorite. I don't really buy super expensive candles, but honestly the White Barn ones smell up the whole house, burn clean, and last a while.
Diptyque is what I always heard was the gold standard: hand blown glass jars, hand poured candles, scents are from the actual plant/flower/etc and not artificial....pricy though.

I second Voluspa. Their 3-wick candles in decorative tins are beautiful. I also go crazy for Henri Bendel candles. Fig is my favorite scent, personally.
