I don't do it; never have.
So I'm obviously biased, but I think it's worse for you than a few glasses of wine throughout the week. I mean...if I've cut back on wine and coffee...come on.
That being said, crackheads get KU all the time and in the 40's, 50's and 60's, smoking cigarettes and drinking hard liquor while pg was totalllllly normal.
I'm not sure. I just did some quick googling and it looks like the effects are mostly unknown, though there seems to be some evidence that it could affect the chances of conception, especially on the male side of things. I have one friend (a guy) who has given it up while TTC because of that.

I was just saying that people who do worse things get pregnant all the time, and back in the day people didn't frown on doing any of that stuff while pregnant or while trying to get pregnant. I wasn't saying crack is=to weed.
But sorry if I offended, Autumn or otherwise. OBVIOUSLY crack is worse, omg. Obviously doing any of those things is bad while actually pregnant.
The point is, things have changed from then until now regarding risks while ttc or while pregnant. And we all make our own choices regardless of those precautions. I'm sure someone out there thinks I'm an idiot for drinking til it's pink.
The research of many substances and their affect on pregnancy is really limited. It isn't ethical to have any kind of stictly controlled study (you 50 women stay sober, and the other 50 drink heavily). Most of the studies are done retroactively, where other contributing factors may play into the results.
That said (and I don't smoke), I'd probably smoke til pink, or at least until 5dpo or so. There is much to be said for the relaxation factor, I think :-) I'd also give it a few months of trying and see what happens. If you TTC for a few months without success, then I'd consider giving it up totally.
It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out what you were talking about. I'm such a square!!!
I guess a lot of it depends in the manner in which you use it. If it's truly occasional use and you don't have any kind of habit, then there's probably no harm in using until you know you're pregnant. I have no idea what kind of effect it would have on fertility or conception, so you might look into that. But the embryo doesn't share the mother's blood supply until 6 weeks anyway, so as long as you can stop when you get a BFP then it shouldn't be an issue for the embryo.
Now if you had any doubt about your ability to quit, then I would recommend starting quitting NOW. But it doesn't sound like that's an issue for you.
I'm a regular green smoker. I've done some research, but like PP said, it's nearly impossible to find anything conclusive. (And it's even harder to find info about MJ than alcohol or other mainstream vices). Most of what I read indicates that, like tobacco use, MJ can affect sperm count/quality, so they recommend that men stop smoking before TTC. But its affects on female reproduction are pretty much unknown. A couple of my docs have said the same thing (because, of course I disclose my smoking to my docs).
However, I have anecdotal info from a formerly pregnant friend who said her OB cleared her for the occasional puff even while pregnant, because it helped her morning sickness so much.
That said, I know I need to quit if I ever get pregnant. And I won't smoke during pregnancy. I pretty much put it in the same category as booze.

Haven't smoked any of that stuff since I was 16, however, it's been legal here since the 60's, so I'll see if there's more info available here (in Dutch possibly, so I'll have to translate for you) and if there is, I'll report back to you.

Okay, I found an extensive (and based on research) article on the use of MJ when TTC or while pregnant. It's going to take me a little while to translate.
The general gist of it is that using MJ in the months leading up to TTC can impact fertility (both male and female) and make implantation more difficult. There are a bunch of details on why and how and if I have time tomorrow I'll translate.
It also says though, that a lot of people still get pregnant while using and have healthy babies. It's just much more important to get way more regular check ups during pregnancy to make sure everything is still going as it's supposed to. They recommend that if you are pregnant and have or would like to keep using MJ you should tell your doctor, so he/she can monitor you better.
I don't anymore, but if I did, I'd probably refrain altogether while TTC - just because it stays in your system longer, and I feel like the effects are less known than alcohol or other things that people tend to avoid. I could be wrong, but since it's not legal in most cases, it's not really given as much attention in books, on boards, etc.
