The table I used to hang them at our old house on is now a plant stand on our patio so that won't work.
We don't really have a good spot in our main living area to put them. My only option pretty much is to buy a floor stand of some sort and put it in our front deep windowsill. But any other ideas?
FYI, for some reason, the 3M command hooks aren't working on our walls. I tried one in DD's bedroom and it completely tore a hunk of the wall off (not sure why, it was freshly dried paint but it was Valspar satin finish, which we've never used before. Don't know what the problem was, but we had our entire main floor professionally painted and DH will flip if I end up ripping part of the wall off in the living room... I have a bunch of stuff that I used to hang with them for the holidays and now I dont know where i'm going to put half of it...
We used to hang them from a bookshelf or from the bannister or some other part of the staircase, before we got a house with fireplace with a mantel.
When we were kids, we never hung out stockings as decor/display. Must have been because we didn't have a fireplace/mantel....I don't remember anyone in our neighborhood displaying them. We put them under the tree on Christmas Eve for Santa to fill.
My parents hang theirs around the front door which enters into the living room, in our apartment we had hooks in the entry way, Ts dad and stepmom hand them from a peg coat rack, Ts mom and grandparents don't do stockings, my aunt has a little Coat rack she uses.
I just saw I think in a Ballard catalog where they hung them off the back of dining chairs. I 3Md hooked mine up there. It's cute, but maybe too cluttery for me. Haven't decided yet but it's a good idea.
Last year I just hung them on the wall rack in my entry.
Do you have a railing? That's where my parents hang stockings, even though they have a fireplace. My mom just buys some pretty ribbon and strings them up with the garland and lights on the railing.
