It is so satisfying to see her actually decorating. Today's post way about finally hanging stuff up in the house.
I am especially pleased to see that she tweaked the furniture arrangement in the mud (?) room. I often thought that an even bigger table would be wonderful here as a center of activity. I'm glad that "built in" little settee is now a secondary seating place.

I really like House Tweaking. And I'm glad that room is starting to look more like a dining room. I bet when they finish up the laundry nook (countertop and such) and they get some chairs it will be a really nice space.
I enjoy reading her blog because it's neat to see someone so totally re-envision a space. But I think I have trouble relating to her style, it's so much more contemporary than mine.
The one thing that I couldn't get past by acknowledging our style differences was the curtains: There's high and wide and... there's that. I know she said she was thinking of doing some kind of shade to cover the space between the rod and the top of the window, but I'm not sure that'll totally do it. Thoughts?
The panels also look kind of narrow for that window, like they wouldn't be able to cover the window if you tried to close them. I think I'd like to see wider panels.
Yeah I think it would look better hung a few inches lower. And yes, those panels are too thin but I am guessing they are just for looks and not for closing. Overall I like it!

Yeah, that is taking the words of a design principle and ignoring design.
I love that little couch, though. Looks like a nice spot to curl up.

I know for sure that it will look better with a shade between. I've seen it done before by some blogger online (or on pinterest?), but it looks so half assed at the moment. it will make her ceilings look more proportional when done (isn't that where they vaulted it?), I think.

Oh I agree, but I still find "could it actually close?" to be a reasonable yardstick for whether the panels will be voluminous enough for the proportions to look right.
My panels on my bay window do close, but just barely. I initially worried about whether they were wide enough or looked too skimpy.
