Any advice for mixed race child (male) hair care? A friend has a 1 year old (18 months) and tried the products her SILs recommended for natural hair but says it seemed too rich for her son. His hair is "very dry and curly/tangly". I've seen some of the natural hair discussion here and thought I'd ask for her. Thank you!
I sent her the link to Chocolate Hair / Vanilla Care already and I linked her to Summer's post about the presentation in Germany and the handy "What type of hair do I have" chart.

I love naturallycurly.com. I am white with curly hair, dh is biracial white/black with coarse hair, and dd is biracial white/black with finer curls. We all have to use different products. I even had to use different products on her baby curls than on her hair now.
For baby curls, I love Just for Me curl cream. I had a lot of problems with products weighing down DD's hair especially when she was a baby and had shorter hair. When she got closer to 3, her hair became more coarse and she needed something with a little more hold.
I only wash her hair with shampoo once or twice a week, but I use conditioner with every bath. I really like Kinky Curly products. I like Mixed Silk gel too and it's a little less expensive. Shea Moisture seems to a popular one, but I hated their leave ins. DD tends to do better with gels and pomades than lotions and oils.
I detangle her hair with a wide toothed comb while she's in the bath after letting the conditioner soak. I never comb her hair dry.
I would also recommend getting a silk pillow case to prevent frizz and breakage.
