So that's where I can put mine this year! We put a pantry (floor to ceiling) where I used to put mine (on a jelly cabinet) and I have no where to put it now where it wouldnt be uh....... a toy...
I don't think it looks bad, but you aren't doing it any favors aside from protecting it. It is so pretty, and really deserves a more flattering backdrop/surroundings.
I have a nativity collection....I think including a few ornaments, I have around 20 of them. I have never had a problem with kids damaging any of them, but I will admit to putting the sets that are the most durable in the spots most likely to attract kids. I bought my oldest grandson a stuffed toy version that came in a little cloth stable/carrier.

I know. I know. I said in another post Rubes is usually great about "No touch." She doesn't touch picture frames, coasters or other decor at all. However, I don't want to take the chance. I want it out, but I will literally cry great big river tears if something happens to it. I'll deal with the unflattering for a month.
Buy rubes one of the little people nativities and then you can have rubes' toys and momma's toys :-)
I had an old rubber set (before little people existed) and I loved the paint off those things. I cried when mom insisted on putting it away by February.
