So DH is going on 15 months unemployed. He has had some contract work off and on which helped. however we had an agreement that after a year of no luck finding a job here he would look for jobs outside our area which would require us to move. I had no idea that it would cone to this. so DH applied for a job 15 hours from home!! They called for the interview he did it and they offered. He declined the position because it was so far away. But he was super upset with me. Now DH has an interview about 4 hours from where we currently live. This means me finding a new job and quitting my current job. I'm not very happy at the moment because I will most likely have to take a pay cut and also lose about 4 weeks vacation I have built up here. I'm the breadwinner in our household and I make almost double what DH would make. I guess I just need some encouragement that we can find new jobs and up and move. I just want to cry every time I think of moving I love my job and the people I work with and I enjoy the small town we will live. I just hope that we make the right choice. I just wish all this didn't have to happen at the holidays.
Hugs! I know it's stressful. You'll be fine though. Think of it has an adventure and a fresh start. You're in a good field. You should be fine if nothing else.
I'm sorry you have to deal with this. We were very lucky to find employment in our area when DH needed a job but he had several offers out of state. While we were dealing with the thoughts of moving I decided that a good deal of my issues would be mental/self-induced. If I decide before I get there that I hate it, well, I most certainly would. If I decided to look at it as an adventure and a great opportunity things may be different. I might still hate it, but I might just love it if given a chance. Try to stay positive and be glad that you at least have your H as a companion no matter what.

I don't mind moving we moved 6 times already but it's the me not having a job not having a place to live and the whole unknown of everything it's so stressful.

I've been there. You're in a good field. I wouldn't be too worried about that.
There's always a house or an apt. for rent somewhere. No one ever moves and says, "There's nowhere to live!"
One step at a time. Baby steps besides. Deep breaths. Think of it as a change that maybe you both need.

Do you think he'd mind doing insurance? I can see who he needs to get in touch with to be an agent assistant or hell, even an agent. They had openings for agents in Lawrence I think. We have 2 agents retiring here next year, one in March and one in October.

if you are the breadwinner, I'd be hesitant to relocate without a job in place for you. Do you also carry your benefits?

He wants in his field. There are opening just not here I kinda knew this day would come.

I think the plan is for him to live in my grandparents fifth wheel until I get a job. If I don't get the job I am applying for then he would come back most likely. Not real sure about the details. I called the hospital that has an opening and they were super excited about a full tech applying not just an mlt. We will have mostly likely wait 30 days probably to get a place to live because of deposits. We are slowly building back up our saving but not enough to pay first months rent plus deposit for a new place right now. I have to give 4 week notice anyways because I'm in the medical field. If I can't a job we won't be able to move.

I can't blame him. My H is by far the breadwinner so I'm kind of stuck either not using my degree for the time being and hope something opens up soon or driving 2 hours one way. I'm not interested in the latter.

I'm with sjh. I don't know the full story, but I really wouldn't want to give up the main income. I don't know what you do, but could you ask your current company if they'd consider you telecommuting?

I'm a medical technologist for a hospital so I don't think that's an option I won't quit my job here until I have a new one.
I'm sorry, that sounds really stressful. H and I were just talking about relocating or being apart part time and the thought made my stomach sink. Hope your plan starts coming together.
