This weekend we are going to a family wedding out of state. We fly out Friday night and home Sunday afternoon.
I'm debating whether to do CDs on the trip or disposables. We are staying in a hotel and won't do laundry while we're there. We are flying Southwest and will have to check stuff anyway, so I could have a bag all for the CDs. C is an infrequent pooper--maybe once every 4-5 days--so the diaper laundry isn't super gross.
On the one hand, I don't really want to fart around with dragging a suitcase of dirty diapers home. On the other, we haven't used disposables since he was a week old and I have no idea what will fit/work for us.
I'd buy some Huggies and call it a day. I travelled with cloth before he was on solids, but only by car. By plane, I just bought some disposables. Never actually had a problem with them, other than the weird smell.
For a flying trip I'd definitely do disposables. We did CDs when we drove to visit my parents (1.5 hours away and laundry room there) when she was EBF, but we didn't even continue with them there once she started solids and I couldn't throw poop in the wash anymore.
I've done trips like that with cloth. Just bring a big enough wet bag or two and a trash bag to double bag it on the way home because compression tends to make wet bags leak.

How often do you typically do diaper laundry? Will you be able to do a diaper load right before you leave if need be? Since you will not be gone that long, I would probably take cloth. We have not traveled by plane, but we have traveled with cloth by car numerous times.

If you are concerned about poop and easier clean up, flushable liners work really well for us. We don't use them every day, but they make traveling with cloth easier.

Normally we do laundry EOD but we have enough to get us through the trip.

We traveled to ILs last week with CDs, it was by car though. We were there 4 days. Rinsed bms right away. We used MIL's washer & did laundry the day before we came home.
Can you even imagine how bad things would get if they lost the dirty diapers on the way back? Or how much cash that bag is worth?
That was my other reason for not flying with cloth. No way could I bring myself to check my diapers.
I completely agree. Get some disposables and call it a day. It's going to make your life so much easier.
Traveling by plane, sleeping in a different place, lots of new people in your son's face - don't add the stress of keeping track of your stash to your worries. You'll already have a full plate.
A hint for disposables, Huggies fit chunky little guys better and Pampers are better for chicken legs.
Make sure his pants fit if you use disposables. The problem with going back and forth is that big old CD butt is holding up his pants. Without it, some pants may be too big for him.

I would CD. You aren't gone for that long. Yes, you will have to cart around dirty diapers, but you do this anyway when running errands, etc in a diaper bag, right?
We do disposables when we travel... but we haven't done plane travel yet. So even for weekend driving trips, I do disposables. In your case, I'd leave the cloth at home for sure...

We totally have this problem. But it didn't start until he started walking and thinned out a little.
