We're building a custom home and will paint the brick. We're hoping the will paint this week. It's been tough to schedule since temperature needs to be 50+ for a couple days.
Our house is painted brick, close to the color you posted Charky. We haven't had to paint it again, so I can't speak to the upkeep costs. We did have some work done on the front of the house, and finding the closest color to match was a pain. So if you do paint it, please make sure you leave some paint for the next owners and/or tell them what the color is.
I don't think you're (too) crazy just because almost every house on my street is brick including mine and I'm SO TIRED OF BRICK. Ahem, excuse me for shouting.
Just do your research and try to use a painter who has done brick before. My understanding is that there can be issues because brick and masonry walls breathe and the paint doesn't allow that to happen anymore. There are also different types of brick, the really old ones are often painted because the brick is soft and deteriorating. There might be different implications depending on the kind of brick and how the house is put together.
