I personally have a love hate relationship with golf.
With my job I get to play in a couple of tournaments a year for free and get paid to be outside all day and drink beer, so that's a plus! On the down side, after about 9 holes, I'm spent. 5 hours of golf is just too much for me usually.
I think learning golf would drive me crazy. It's so slow. And then there's always the possiblity the ball will go nowhere near the hole, again and again, and again. You could be out there all day drunk as shit!!

I know, it's wonderful!
I saw this as a positive rather than a negative as well!

That's what I'm hoping you guys...that I end up drunk and not giving a shit. The only times I've gotten suckered into driving a golf cart for my hubby (or once as the beer cart girl at a golf outing) I ended up drunk as hell.
And Katie...no. Not 'til after my sister's wedding in August. So, starting sometime in Sept (depending on when my annual is scheduled, it's due that month anyway) I'll have a whole nother thing to flip out about.
I love golf! How many sports can you drink beer and play at the same time?!
Exactly. I'm not good at golf but I love it. My whole family golfs so it's a fun thing we all do together. Walking 18 holes carrying clubs is no joke either.
So I talked to FIL Saturday night. It turns out when J's grandpa passed away last year, he specified in his will that once the rest of the estate was settled (selling the house, settling debts etc) the remaining money be set aside for two things-swim lessons for his current and future great grandkids (he had a near drowning accident as a kid because he didn't know how to swim, so he made sure his kids, grandkids, and now great grandkids all know how to swim) and...wait fot it...golf lessons for any interested family member. Well, anything golf related-clubs, the annual family golf vacation to TN, etc. Their whole family LOVES golf, obviously
He offered to put me in golf lessons a few times when he was alive, but I never got around to taking him up on it. Now, I feel like I owe it to him...plus I know it'd make him smile from the great beyond The place I'd go to (the same one J went to in the past and can now retake lessons for free so we'll prob take lessons together...lord help us all) just started up a session so we'll probably start when the next session does. Oh, dear.
