His company announced 17 months ago that they were planning a big merger. The Feds have rejected it twice, and rumor has it their most recent decision will be announced today after the stock market closes. If they pass it, our future is 90% certain that we'll be relocated to North Carolina. We won't know officially know his position until July, but more than likely it will be in Charlotte. Which also means he'll be commuting every week from then until we move. Because of the crappy early intervention program in NC we would wait as long as possible, trying to keep Kennedy here until she's 3.

Well I am sorry to hear you are not too excited about moving.... but we may be neighbors in the next year or so. H just got a promotion last week, and I would be good money that we will be in Charlotte within the next year if not sooner.

Would his whole company be moving there??
Really? Well that would make me a little more excited! I hate the idea of moving somewhere that I have no friends. The company's headquarters will be based in Charlotte, and since he's pretty high level management we would more than likely end up there. There's a pretty slim chance he could be offered a Florida based position.
It has it's perks I guess. Right now he commutes from New Tampa to St Pete when he is home and he's gone A LOT. So eventually this would be less travel. And like I always say, there are a lot worse places than Charlotte. I just feel like I have a really good network of friends and everything here. It's hard to think about starting over.

Hey there. That is a lot of uncertainty. Try not to worry until it happens. They could announce the merger, but you might not know about a move until a little while longer, right? (What the hell do I know though?)
Would the company pay for flights back on the weekends, and a condo/apt in Charlotte? When I was younger, my dad had to "commute" all over the damn place having condos in NYC, Clearwater, etc. at different companies. (And no, this wasn't because he had some ladies on the side.)
Oh my! I thought my H had a long commute to Brandon! Is it more money? What if the merger doesn't happen? Does he still have a poston here?
Sadly, it will likely be less money because NC state taxes will come out. If the merger doesn't happen he would likely keep his same position but there's a chance we could end up in Raleigh where they are currently based.

Yeah we won't know right away as far as the details of his job. But unofficial information and discussions point to Charlotte.
Part of the relocation package includes travel expenses, etc. they know our situation with Kennedy and already said they would do their best to work with us.

This is how it would be for us too. They should get compensated for the extra taxes!!!

Have they talked time frames at all?
That's what I said!!! It sucks. And depending on what part of Charlotte you live in, it can be more expensive as far as houses.
I think that we would have to use the relation package by the end of 2013 so she would be about 2 months shy of being 3 if we waited that long. But I don't know if we'll make it that long with him traveling all the time.
