...or I'm buying a giant metal chicken.
He started with the "we're spending $2-3k refinishing the floors and you want area rugs why?" argument when I told him the one I love (BUT CANNOT JUSTIFY) for the living room is $600. I have been searching for a suitable one that looks like it but is less expensive but I can't find anything anywhere.
Well, THEN he brings it up to his Dad while we're picking up the boys. Mistake, because his dad is all "oh, but emo is right to want rugs" and goes on and on about sound buffering and protecting the floors. And his mom agrees and says she'd have them if it weren't for their miniature ponies/Great Danes. And then he texts his BFF (who is married to one of my good friends) and he ALSO agrees, but does say $600 is insanity.
I kind of really want a Beyonce of my own now just to mess with him for all this.
And now, I need help finding a similar rug to this:
I really love the color and I really like the pattern, but I am open to any other pattern that is sort of traditional and simple but not flowery or too modern (like chevron). I can go search for the picture of my pillows that are going in that room, but the curtains are green. Not lime or sage or hunter, but kind of a kiwi? Room is Behr Gobi Desert, the couch is tan, we don't have any other permanent furniture in there (and even the couch may get replaced in the next few years, depending on how hard Baby W is on things).

Kaylie, I'm tempted to get that one in purple. (I love purple). Would it look good with green curtains if the pillows tied it in? (I would replace curtains if it flopped IRL!)
I like a purple/green combo, as long as you don't use barney green with barney purple with no other colors to prevent the room from reminding me of a big dinosaur =)
Pretty rug. You need rugs. Overstock has a lot of options like that. As does Menard's if you're nearby
And I laugh because I don't think my H has a clue in hell what an area rug is, why I'd want it, or why we need it. It'd be on my floor for 3 months and he'd say, "Hmm...need to vacuum soon dear. Rubes is leaving a goldfish cracker trail in a trellis pattern!"
We got all our area rugs from overstock and I'm really happy with them. You NEED rugs on hardwood, especially in the higher traffic areas or anywhere that you'll have tables/chairs. I also think that $600 isn't a lot for an area rug, depending on the size.

The 10% off rugs? Yep, they've been doing that for awhile.
I need to just hit "order" but I can't. I'm so frugal it's ridiculous. I know I need them! (My H is like "Menards is having a rug sale" but I think I looked and found nothing that fit my tastes.)
I love that rug, but the size I need is $1,020. $663 after coupon code.
Ouch. (I know it's not bad comparatively, but I have been bleeding money the past month, okay? LOL)
This is totally where I am too. $400 in paint PLUS what we spent on primer and ceiling paint? UGH. I didn't even want to count after the paint.
LOL, yes. Ace Hardware messed up color matching on paint for my office. It was 2 entirely different colors. Their solution? Paint a third coat with a third gallon to fix their mistake. This totally defeats the purpose of color matching, people. I ended up getting a free gallon of paint out of the deal, but ugh, I have spent like $800+ on paint in the past 3 weeks, is expecting it to be the same color too much to ask?
I have the rug posted in blue too and I loooove it! But yes I got the same thing from my husband and father after we redid our floors and I wanted area rugs. I won.
I just got this same rug in the gold color! They were running a 75% off sale around Thanksgiving so I got the 7.5x9.5 size for $160-something. I haven't received it yet but the reviews were all very positive.

This makes me want to cry. I want a rug for that price!
