I work part-time as a leasing consultant. Resident comes in just now to tell us that our fish pond is getting low (duh, we've been in a drought since January...) and the maintenance men should probably check it for a leak.

I just smiled and told her I'd have them check it out. I was too flabbergasted to muster anything else. When she left I looked at my boss and we both burst out laughing

Can I share a funny story from the other side?
I lived on the end unit on the 3rd floor of a 1K unit apartment complex. I had a bird who was getting into my dryer vent and was building a nest. I had called maintenance on the 1st time, 2nd time I cleaned it out myself and on 3 I had enough.
Me: I'm having a problem with a bird living in my dryer vent and building a nest so it isn't venting properly. Maint: I'm sorry you have a what? Me: A bird living in my dryer vent Maint: A what? Me: A Bird Maint: What? Me: B-I-R-D - Bird Maint: living where? Me: In my dryer vent Maint: Where? Me: In the vent to my dryer - that goes outside, you know? Maint: A what? Me: Bird Maint: but there is a cover Me: Well apparently it's not working because it's been cleaned out twice and I have the paperwork from the first time maintenance cleaned it. Maint: Well I'm not sure we can do anything about it. Me: Well, you probably should because it's really hot and I'd imagine it will start a fire if I continue to use it. Maint: but it has a cover Me: I have insurance... do you?
Fixed two days later and had a brand new cover but it had to be my best conversation with the complex ever.
Pond leakage is a pretty common problem. I've seen quite a few of them in farm country where I grew up. It's sometimes due to the construction and sometimes the type of ground where it's built. Although, one would need a hell of a lot more than a maintenance man to fix it. lol
Obviously, drought is a good reason for a low pond also.
