My identity was stolen in a BIG way a few years ago (like, stolen by a methhead then sold numerous times over, I think something like 10 people had my info before it was all found out). Because of this, my credit was destroyed and I cannot get a CC. I've managed to get by just fine without one, though it would be nice to have one for business travel purposes.

Yeah, I mean I guess you could get by on debit cards, but that has to suck when you rent a car or stay at a hotel or whatever and they suck money out of your bank account to cover potential damage/incidentals.
Those who don't have credit cards have debit cards at least, right?
Maybe people use debit cards instead of credit/charge cards? Seems like a pain, but you can use them for hotels and rental cars, I believe.
I do use my debit card for the majority of my purchases, probably 75%, but I still have 6 credit cards! My mom was big on me starting to get credit as soon as I was 18. My dad never had a credit card until he was married & couldn’t rent a car on their honeymoon because he didn’t have one. Mom to the rescue.

ETA: Oh, and even if you don't need a cc for regular purchases, what about for a car loan, mortgage or even renting an apartment? They had to run my credit for my apartment. Having 0 credit could affect you in that way.

I have 2 regular use- United Visa for airline miles that I put my rent on and an Amex Platinum for every day purchases that is paid in full each month. I have a few others in my safety box that I'll use every few months to keep active.
