Wind chills here are at -30. It is so cold it actually hurts when you go out there. Schools are closed and I am soo not going to work today.
Are schools closed due to the cold?? I have never heard of this.
Schools in the entire Upper Peninsula of Michigan are closed, most government offices and all of the universities, except one. With windchills at -30 (temps hovering around -10) you can get frostbite in 10 minutes. They can't have kids waiting for buses and walking to school in temps like that.

Are you a Yooper? I'm from down state (Saginaw).
I've already had a couple of FB messages from my family in TX asking how I don't die when it gets this cold. LOL.
I said we don't die in the same way you don't die when its 110º in the shade in TX.
DD was very dramatic about how cold it was this morning, acting like the world was ending. DH and I couldn't help laughing at her- I grew up in Pittsburgh, DH grew up in upstate NY. THis is nothing kid.

All places have their pros and cons. Yup, I am a yooper, I live as far north in the UP as you can get. Do you ever travel north and over the bridge? Schools were closed today thanks to the temps and the 12+ inches of snow we received in the last 24 hours or so.
I actually do have to use a vacation day today (we don't get "cold days") and I did take it because it's pretty hard to leave a 9 year old home alone. I am just really glad I didn't have to go out there and shovel my drive and scrape my windshield. DH couldn't stay home, so I took one for the team!

We haven't been to the UP in a few years but we love the Traverse City area. One of our daughters lives with two of our grandchildren, so we try and pop up there as often as we can.
Be careful in all the snow and cold. The road I live on doesn't get plowed or salted, so it's a sheet of ice right now. I'm about 8 blocks off the main street and I can't drive more than 5 mph or I'll end up sliding right off the road. I had to drive my husband's truck yesterday and I was still sliding around in 4WD.
I'm always glad to welcome another MI girl to Married Life.
OMG you guys that is so cold!! It's about 30 here. We have had a dense fog here for going on about five days now. ALL day long with air stagnation warnings. I would either like to see the sun or enjoy a little bit of snow. Enough snow to have a late start.
