Random thought: Would anyone be interested in a "Flashback Friday" post? I am not a packrat, I promise, but for some reason I held onto pretty much all my teen magazines from about '96 to '01 or so--Seventeen, 'Teen, YM--and recently picked them up from my mom's house. I can't bring myself to recycle them yet.
So I was thinking about scanning some of the most awesome covers and pages and sharing one or a few each week as a "Flashback Friday" post. But only if people would enjoy it, LOL. It would be cool if other people had stuff to share, too.
I JUST got rid of a stack of Girls Life and YM magazines! Damn.
There was a feature on Buzz Feed a week or so ago that was scans from an old Delia's catalog. That was a blast from the past, lol.
I wore a Delia's dress to my sophomore semi-formal and I thought I was the shit. lol
AND it was MM, because I bought it at some kind of big outlet sale at the Jersey Gardens Mall complex that I begged my dad to drive me to. I think it was less than $20.
Then I put on way too much foundation and powder (i never wore makeup before that) and I looked like a damn ghost.

I don't remember Delia's but I do remember being a regular at Express/Gap/A&F. I think my clothes were all brand name and now I could care less! As for flashback Fridays that would be fun.
I rarely wore name-brand clothes growing up, and never the "cool" stuff.
I saved my camp counselor money one year when I was in high school, and bought myself an Aeropostale t-shirt. It was a men's shirt with their bulldog logo on front. I wore it several times a week and thought I was hot shit, lol.
I also saved that clear drawstring shopping bag that the shirt came in, and used it to carry my gym uniform and sneakers. Because my classmates would also pick on me for carrying my stuff in a Shop Rite bag.
Ah man, just the other day I recycled a Health magazine from 1997. (I didn't save this, my sister gave me a random stack of magazines last summer and I just now went through them, and it was tucked in there between summer 2012 issues of Vanity Fair.)
It had a Got Milk ad featuring Sherry Stringfield (Susan on E.R.).
I need to see old copies of the Delia's catalog, circa 1996-1997. I had these hideous "clown" shoes (as I like to call them now). They were patterned like saddle shoes but had a huge toe that popped up in the front. I tried to describe them to DH but just couldn't. God, I ordered so much stuff from those catalogs!

my mom wouldn't let me order from Delia*s, she said that it didn't look reputable. I felt a little sad when I saw that they had come to my mall in the last year, thinking that if it had been a store back then I could have gotten somethings.

My BFF in 8th grade had these shoes and I was so jealous. Still am.
