About 18 months ago I went off the pill - I was done with the hormones, the mood swings, no sex drive. No plans to TTC, but I am not ready for either of us to have a permanent procedure. We've been using Vaginal Contraceptive Film - easy to use (needs to be in 15 minutes before sex) and it works. I buy them at the drugstore or Target.

I've had the Mirena for a year and a half and I love it. I haven't had kids, and insertion was uncomfortable and not pleasant for about a minute, but after that I was fine. Just take ibuprofen before you go. The annoying thing for me was I spotted for about 6 weeks after insertion, but I haven't had a period since I had insertion, which is awesome. I'm having mine removed in a few weeks to start TTC, but after we have a kid I'm definitely getting another Mirena.
Condoms, everything else screwed with my body in some way. Mirena and other hormonal forms of BC had a list of issues with. I guess if I had to get something be paragard, but when we are planning on BC for later on, tubes will be tied.
Paragaurd -- insertion hurt for me, I was at the end of my period and because I as more "tender" it hurt worse the doc said. I also have super heavy periods not, but I haven't been off bcp for so long that I don't know if this is equivalent to my normal period.
I am currently on Gianvi, the generic form of Yaz.
I have minimal side effects from BCP, but I still would like to go off of hormonal birth control. I have never been 100% cool with the idea of manipulating my hormones, it just weirds me out.
Condoms. I had a Mirena, but it expired, and I haven't gotten it put back in yet, because I am trying to hold out for the healthcare/bc/religious institution thing. But I will say that I love cleanup with condoms.
When I was breastfeeding I used the minipill, but for the life of me kept forgetting to take it at the same time. We switched to condoms and are TTC. I'd probably consider an IUD next time around.
Mirena. I did not feel a thing. I got it 6 weeks after having DD. even if it hurts a little it would be worth it to me. It is so much easier than piles etc. You do not have to think about a thing.
Paragard for the past 2.5 years. I love it. Before that I was on the pill for nearly 12 years. FWIW, I've never been pregnant, and insertion wasn't bad. No worse than a Pap smear. Periods are about a day longer with one heavier day than before, but totally bearable. The increase in sex drive has been well worth it.
I have a Mirena IUD, that I had inserted about 2.5 years ago. I haven't had a baby and found insertion to not be so bad. I have had no issues and love that I don't need to think about birth control.
Condoms. The mini pill killed my milk supply, and I'm not going back on full fledged birth control ever again because I believe it was the main cause of my trouble conceiving the first time around (second baby was a surprise because I thought I would always need help getting pregnant and we didn't use protection one time).

Infertility.
On a serious note, I used the patch (loved, but can't use it due to high blood pressure) and the mini pill. My only gripe with the mini pill is the need to take it on-time religiously (only a three hour window of time to take it if you miss the pill or else you have to use back up).
