Didn't you push a baby out? You can handle the pain of an IUD. I had a painful insertion, but even with that, it was all gone after a day. It was totally worth it to not have to worry about birth control for the last 2.5+ years.
I have a fetus? Probably not the solution you're looking for, lol.
I plan to get and IUD, ASAP. I have no desire to take BCPs ever again and all other options seems way too complicated.
Me too, exactly.
I've had the Mirena in the past and the insertion was not a big deal. I had an appointment over lunch, then went back to lunch after. The only thing I didn't like was it made my skin break out, but I don't want another baby so I'll just deal.
I never pushed a baby out! I had a csection under general anesthesia after being diagnosed with HELLP syndrome. I never was in labor or felt a contraction

I'm a wimp, and didn't find insertion of my Paragard to be at all painful. Maybe a little twinge here and there during the procedure, nothing more than a dull ache for an hour or so afterward.
My OB likes to insert the Mirena during your period. I think it's less painful that way? I had mine put in over a week ago (during my first pp period) and it was no big deal. I mean I had my period so I had bleeding from that and some crampy feelings the rest of the day but not a big deal at all. And it was FREE due to the new healthcare laws. We had used condoms since DS was born and we were kind of over those too.

At my 6-week checkup after DD, my OB and I had the birth control talk. She asked me if I planned to have a second baby within 3-5 years. When I said yes, she basically said that in her opinion the IUD was off the table as her practice considers an IUD long-term BC. I wasn't really interested in getting an IUD, so I didn't really push back, but it surprised me to hear that she and her partners would be resistant to inserting one for just 1-2 years.
ETA: I didn't actually answer the question. We did condoms while BF. I went on the pill after we stopped, but hormonal BC has never really agreed with me, so after a couple months we went back to condoms with the occasional pull and pray.

We use condoms currently, I dont like the way I feel on hormonal birth control. We have a vacation planned for April and then we will be TTC, and DH will have a vasectomy after our next baby is born.

Mirena as well, and like PPs, the insertion was NBD. I had it put in 3 weeks ago. Seriously, it was way less painful than an internal during childbirth and was over in an instant. Had a few cramps for the next 2-3 days, and now I'm fine.
I'm no help. I chart and we use condoms. I love being off hormonal birth control, but know charting isn't for everyone.
Same here. And ditto the love of being off hormones. I was on the Nuvaring for about 18 months but my sex drive was out the window and I just felt "off" so, no more.
Mini pill until dd was 18 months, switched to combo seasonale in an attempt to force weaning by drying up the boobs....which has had zero effect on supply that late in the game btw. The mini pill started going wonky on me around a year post partum and I got 2 6 day periods a month so I switched.

I have a mirena. I found the insertion to be incredibly painful. They had a lot of trouble with insertion, I was in so much pain that I wasn't able to drive home and had to get H to come get me. It was really bad. It was actually probably one of the most painful things that have ever happened to me, other than the time I had a spinal headache after a lumbar puncture.
But don't let the pain deter you! It is worth it. It was painful for like a day.
