I want to do vents, but I think some positivity would be good too! (Yes, I spent more time than was probably necessary trying to come up with that subject line. LOL)
Jeer: Our local CL. So R and I are moving up to a king-size bed in the new house. (OMG, finally!) We've settled on a mattress/sheets, etc. But I've been thinking that we need a new headboard until R can build us one, so I'm looking at CL for a new king-size headboard. And I've found TONS in my price range, but they're all freaking 100+ miles away. Yes, our CL area is huge. I'm not wasting a tank of gas to retrieve a $50 headboard. Grrrrr. Any ideas for good short-term substitutes?
Cheer: I'm SO glad to finally have the decision-making process out of the way as regards the kitchen. You ladies are totally awesome and without your pushing and shoving, I don't know if I'd have mustered up the idea of presenting R with a deep teal for the cabinets. Which he LOVES, by the way. I think he's more excited than I am.

Jeer: I'm painting one of those all over wall stencils in our half bathroom--started in October and I am STILL NOT FINISHED. Granted, I don't work on it nearly as much as I probably should, but it's certainly not as easy as I thought it would be, particularly in corners or where the ceiling meets the walls.
Cheer: I just finished season 1 of Homeland last night on Netflix and am in love with this show, so much that I watched a PBS miniseries over the weekend (The Forsyte saga) just to see Damian Lewis again. I am so excited to see season 2 (even though there's no release date for it yet!)
Oh I have another Jeer: FIL called the H last night and wanted him to take down the lights we have hanging in our basement and pack them up for him. Because he paid for them. 7 years ago when he lived there. They're crappy $40 lights from Menards and the H is going to do it, but it just bothered me that he asked for them back after all this time. He also wanted to know what else we had of his in the basement, and got a little snippy when the H told him "nothing". Um, dude you haven't lived here in 6 years, and we've given you a dozen opportunities to take the stuff years ago. Most of his stuff was junk anyway and we tossed it a long time ago. Our house isn't his personal storage unit. Grr...And he told the H that he was cheap for giving him grief about it. He said we shouldn't be so stingy with our money and to go buy new ones if we wanted.

jeer: Im trying to be a big kid and get my credit back in order. Well I'm calling some the companies and they have some awful hold music! Also, If I'm trying to be good and pay a debt to you please make it so I have more options than mailing in my payment every month...ugh. cheer: I got a small "good customer service" bonus today!
Jeers: Our realtor can't arrange to see a couple of the properties on our list because they are rentals, and the renters won't let anyone come to look. One house has been for sale for over a year, and the sellers are just stuck at this point because the renters have a long term lease.
Cheers: I finally ordered the unsanded caulk that I needed to finish the bathroom redo from over a year ago, and it arrived. Now we can spend 15 minutes or so finishing that room and we can check it off the list.

Jeers: the amount of documentation needed to get a mortgage is unreal. An entire year of cancelled checks showing on time rent payment? Wtf? Like I have those lying around. Yes I know I can get them on the bank website, but it a list of 10 things, each of which will take an hour or so to track down.
cheers: at least we found a house! And dd is starting preschool in two weeks, four mornings a week I will be free! Can't wait.

Lalala I can't hear you!
Seriously though, I plane to stencil one wall of DD's room. How bad is it? Would I run scared? Or does it look cool enough to be worth it?
Jeers: One of my group projects is supposed to have a presentation tomorrow. The girl who was supposed to present sent me a text a few hours ago saying she couldn't present because she still had other homework. Um, so do I, asshat. In addition, she never sent me the powerpoint she's supposed to present from.
Cheers: I'm so happy dog groomers have gone mobile. The groomer will be here on Sunday to clean up the beast. I'm glad I don't have to take her anywhere--she hates the car.

We recently got a conventional, conforming loan and the amount of re-documentation they wanted (after I'd already sent the loan app, all of our financial docs showing plenty of reserves, etc.) was ridiculous. I think I got a letter one day with 10 conditions on it, including "why does one W-2 (out of 3) from 2010 show an address you no longer live at?" (um, we moved, which was on the loan application under "past addresses"?).
cheer: I am home and made myself a few bacon-wrapped jalapenos for lunch. Yum.
jeer: I am so.over.being.pregnant. Get this baby out. We talked about going away for the weekend and my H suggested a freaking Best Western off the interstate. Yes, that sounds like fun! A cheap hotel that is going to be more uncomfortable than the bed I can't sleep in every night at home! (I was nicer than that when I told him no, but COME ON.)

I think we were lucky - the mortgage company we went with requested normal things, and only sent one request afterwards, with a letter explaining a problem with our taxes 2 years ago that we just had to sign and send back. I'm now seriously convinced that the right lender makes all the difference in the world.

It only took me an afternoon/evening to do the crib nook stencil in my baby room - from first gathering supplies to cleanup with a break for dinner in there. I think how long it takes depends on the pattern. Mine is birch trees...so the organic nature of it lends itself to just kinda eyeballing spacing and alignment and other general half-assing. If you want to do a geometric pattern you'll take a LOT longer because you'll need to actually perfectly line things up.
Cheers: Nursery is done! I know I already AW'd that, but the thought of it being all finished is still the highlight of my day.
Jeers: I'm huge and more than a little tired of being pregnant and still have 12 days to go till my due date. I'm sending happy contraction thoughts to my uterus. Any time now would be just DANDY with me.

Actually, a level and some well placed tape or markings will go a long way toward speeding things up when doing the actual stenciling.
Cheer: Tomorrow is Thursday which means DD and I will do our Sushi Lunch/Home Goods shopping together. That is something I look forward to all week. (heart) Jeer: I forgot my son has a 4-day weekend so both kids are home with me and now I have to shift around and reschedule all the appointments I made for Friday.

I don't have a pattern picked out yet, but it will be geometric. I am planning on buying a stencil bc that seems to work better than making one myself with cardboard. But if anyone has suggestions for good, cheap places to buy them, I am interested!
And speaking of interest rates, what did youths get? We are locked at 3.5%.
3.25%
I don't think I would continue with a company I am suing - I would be concerned about retribution, personally. Can I ask why the lawsuit? (If you don't mind me asking - feel free to tell me to MYOB)

Oh yeah...speaking of which, I recommend buying one of those little levels that you can attach directly to the stencil. I didn't bother (I mean...we own like 5 levels. Do I really need another?) but it was hard to hold the level and the stencil and stick the stencil to the wall with only two hands while standing on a ladder.
And while I'm at it - the yellow delicate surface frog tape kicks ass for stenciling. I was taping over paint the second it was dry to the touch and it never caused a problem.
And...if you have a pattern with a lot of delicate bridges and straight/smooth lines, follow the instructions and use the spray adhesive. I half-assed and just taped the stencil to the wall, which worked fine (again) because the pattern I was using is forgiving of a little bit of bleeding since nothing is a smooth line. But I definitely would have driven myself nuts with if I were doing say...a trellis pattern.

Hahaha, that is a spelling error. Should say USING, not suing!
We had 3.25% with the last house, but of course right before we found the current house, rates ticked up a bit. Something about 3.25 made me really happy compared to 3.5, even though they aren't that far apart.

I am thinking trellis pattern, and I fully intend to use spray adhesive! Good tip on the level, I would totally cheap out on that since we have a ton of levels. In fact, we probably have some small cheapy ones that I could just tape on the stencil for the project.

Oh, it definitely looks cool enough to be worth it! :-) But it is SO SO SO time consuming! My biggest issue, bar none, is that my stencil isn't cut to the very edges of the vinyl (if that makes sense)--so the stencil I'm using a has a 3" solid border all around it, and there's no way at all to bring the pattern all of the way to the edges of the walls without physically taking a scissor to the stencil and lopping off the edge to right where the cutout begins. As it stands now, I took the stencil, traced one of the cutouts it on oaktag, cut it out, bent the oaktag so it fits flush into the corners, and am using that to finish off around the edge of the walls and at the ceiling line. What a PITA!!
ETA: I am doing all 4 walls in the room as well, which is another part of my problem, even though the bathroom isn't very large. If I only had to do this piecemeal crap on one wall, I probably would have been done by Halloween.

Jeer: our drywall guy is good and cheap but impossible to communicate with! There is a language barrier, but also his personality is so laid back it is off-puting.
Cheers: I ran yesterday for the second time since having DD2 and I'm not sore today! Yippee!
