My nephew is 12 and in the 6th grade. I guess word got around school yesterday that an 8th grader paid someone $60 to kill my nephew. Kid got called into the principal's office and admitted it. My nephew's mom filed a police report against the kid and complained to the school. The school only gave the kid an in-house suspension for half a day. What kind of bullshit is that?!
She did file a police report. I will mention the restraining order to her. She's a single mom and my brother isn't super involved with his son. I told her that my H would be more than willing to go down and raise hell with her.

hell to the no. I teach 4th grade and last year a kid got a 3 day suspension for bringing in a pen that gives a little shock when you open it. For an 8th grader to plot something so devious and get less than a slap on the wrist is so unjust.

I was thinking the same. Kids are getting suspended these days for SAYING stupid things that aren't direct threats to one kid.
Paying a kid to kill another is a completely different level of evil.
I second calling a newstation to let them know the school did nothing and is refusing to protect a bullied child. Because that is basically what they're doing. They're not taking this seriously enough and letting another kid off easy for enacting a murder for hire plan!
I'm glad she filed a police report but I don't see how it can do much good without knowing who the kid is? I second calling a local newstation. Maybe they can make the school take this more seriously!
Thats totally unacceptable. She should contact the superintendent. Threaten legal action. Publicity. Light some fire under thwir asses. What about the kid who agreed to kill him? I hope to God he got punished too.

My only advice is to keep that kid away from school until it is properly handled by authorities (not the bs school admin!). I think it was great of you to offer your husband's presence, but if they don't do something, I'd consider approaching the media..?? Or maybe threatening a media approach? (As a Non-Mom! Who knows nothing about anonymity in these types of situations, but certainly would protect nephew first & foremost, of course.)
She should talk to the police. It is not just the school's job to protect the other kid, they should be just as concerned about your nephew. Definitely tell her to raise hell with the school if she has to.
