My friend called yesterday to tell me her 3 year-old woke up from his nap speaking in Latin, and that he seemed to be in a trance for a good 20 minutes. She called a paranormal expert and is now preparing to take her family on a 10-hour drive to get an exorcism done on her kids. I promise she's sane and normal. I want to believe her, and I do, at least partially, but I'm really worried about her and her family now.
No. No she is not.
She has 3 children pretty close spaced and one is a newborn and she thinks there possessed? Has she been evaluated for PP psychosis? I am not joking. I have heard of people believing there children are possessed or controlled by demons, or demons are coming to get them and then harming them, all due to PP psychosis. Call her DH NOW and have him get her evaluated ( and the kids to a pedi.)
A woman in my playgroup is considering naming her son River. I can't help but to shake my head.
I like that name! Different w/o being totally crazy. But maybe I'm a hippie, I like the name Meadow for a girl lol. Pretty sure we'll end up using a more normal name but I still like them.
I LOVE Meadow for a girl... Love Love Love.
DH will never use it. He grew up 10 minutes from the Meadowlands.
I just got a speeding ticket on the way home. I am pouting about it hardcore. So annoyed. 100 dumb move on my part, I kind of spaced out on my drive home, and the speed limit drops to 30 on a 4 lane road (2 lanes going each way) so it is super easy to speed. Ugh, I feel sick wasting the money on a stupid mistake.
Same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. Just cruisin along talking to husband, and bam 21k over the limit.. My van doesn't like to go slow..
other random... I spilled coffee on my lappy the other day, it still works, but my spacebar sticks so bad.. grrrr

Ugh, that sucks. I was going 14 over. Luckily the cop only wrote me up for 9 over, which dropped the price by like 100 dollars
Hey Kaybee, mine did get dropped as well. he was a nice (and really hot). My ticket wasn't bad in price, it is the cost of my insurance next year that I am worried about my insurance price next year. bye bye 5 star rating.
It was the 3rd time in a week I was pulled over too. the other ones were ride programs..
I asked if she took him to a doctor yet, and she said no, and that she wouldn't because they won't believe her. Her younger daughter is also affected, she says, so apparently it's not just the 3 year-old. She says they both react to things that aren't there, and her daughter (1.5 y/o, my goddaughter) cries a LOT whenever she leaves a room. We thought that was separation anxiety but she says it isn't, it's worse than that.
She's got a 2 month old too.
Her husband doesn't believe in any of it, so I'm hoping he forces her to take the kids to the doctor just to be sure.
Well hell. He's presumably not crippled; he could actually take the children himself, if she won't. And it sounds like she could stand a check up too; this can be something wrong in her head, that she is perceiving things that are.not.real.
Her husband works a TON and she's a SAHM, and I think you can tell that I don't particularly care for him/his parenting, lol. Things seemed less strange yesterday. I'll be keeping an eye on her and going to visit them soon.
I'm just thinking of Andrea Yates, thinking her children were doomed to hell because they were sinners, and so by killing them she could get them to heaven, so she did; that was post partum psychosis. And her husband paid no attention, and did nothing. Your friend is really not behaving normally, and this is not a normal reaction for anyone to have. Can you see if she's still thinking outside the norm? Because really, this is pretty bad.
This is exactly what came to mind for me, too. I just recently watched an interview she did, and it was heartbreaking.

Well, I had been feeling better about her and her logic (she sounded much better yesterday) until right now, lol. But you're right; even if that's a worse-case scenario, I suppose it's still within the realm of possibility.
We talk often and I am going to keep a very close eye on her. Since I didn't freak out audibly when she told me, I think she trusts that I believe her, and will confide in me if she has really bad moments.
